Meet Rob Ward | Comedian, writer, producer.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rob Ward and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rob, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I think I have been successful because I wasn’t afraid to take risks. However, I sacrificed a lot. My wife, kids, and I went without things to get me where I am today, and I am forever grateful for them, believing in me. Taking risks can be scary, but when you come out of it, you feel confident and even more ambitious.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I believe stand-up comedy is at an all-time high as far as comedians. There are so many talented comics out here now, which I believe is a great thing because laughter is therapeutic and healing. With that being said, I think what sets me apart from my peers without me having a big agent or 1 million followers on social media is my work ethic. I’ve learned that show business is 90% business, so you have to consistently create. I’m not just talking about content; I’m talking about creating opportunities for yourself. Creating and producing shows is a crucial part of my success, as well as helping others.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting from out of town, I would 100% take them to Cleveland Funny Bone, formerly known as the Cleveland Improv. I have a monthly show that I produce called “Take Over Thursday.” Then, because I’m a homebody when I’m not touring, I’d take them to grab a bottle from the liquor store and then to my house so they can hang out with the family, and I can throw something on the grill because I love to grill. Also, because I’m not a bad host, we would also hit up spots like Open Pit, Sub City, “Make ’em Laugh Mondays,” Sam Sylk’s, and more. Cleveland has a lot to offer from food to entertainment.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to shout out my wife and kids for being my biggest supporters. My mentor and big bro Benji Brown for taking me on the road and teaching me the ropes. My partner in crime and right hand B.Tidy! Donald Smith and B. Holsey for the early support and friendship, all my supporters, friends, and family, and lastly, my city Cleveland, OH.
