We had the good fortune of connecting with Russ Sinkewich and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Russ, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
We want to positively improve the the Northeast Ohio hockey community. We do this daily via player development instruction, parent education, and establishing strategic partnerships which creates equitable ice opportunities and experiences.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m grateful to have had a successful hockey career that took me through every level of the game the city offered. From starting my career at the CSHL level locally and taking it to a NCAA D1 level at Bowling Green State University, as well as professional level in the American Hockey League. My journey through the sport was full of its challenges and setbacks. However, thats what achieving something great is all about – your commitment to your goals is never easy, however its absolutely fulfilling.
This journey only furthered fueled our mission to give back to the Northeast hockey community and help countless aspiring players chase their dreams in the sport just like I was able to with mine. Its this mission that really fulfills our purpose now!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Cleveland has such a great food and sports scene! I love being in the mix downtown whenever I have the chance. Depending on the season, having a day around one of our local sports teams would always be my preference. I love getting to the Fieldhouse to catch Monsters or Cavs games! Same with the Browns too! Dependent on the venue, a meal and social scene at either E4th or Flats is always a great time!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’m grateful to many amazing coaches I had throughout my childhood and career that empowered me to love the game of hockey. I tell the stories of my youth career regularly – the early love and support I was given by family and wonderful coaches and organizations is what cemented my love for the game and embracing the process of discipline and dedication it takes to take the game to great heights.
