We had the good fortune of connecting with Samien Alvarez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Samien, what are you inspired by?
I am inspired by the way people succeed through harsh failure. Their success of winning championships, awards, and social status triggers something in the human mind that makes a young creative to be stubborn. Stubborn being that I cannot sit still because there’s a goal and promise I have to fulfill in this life. It’s not about getting to the level of superiority your peers are in that inspires me. It’s behind the curtain that captures my eye.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have been posting content for the last 4 years now on tiktok, Instagram, and YouTube while being a blue collar worker. I have been infatuated with motivational speeches, preachers, and encouraging messages because of my dad playing them in the car as a child. I was 13 listening to Billy Graham and making my own “preachings” when I was alone. Although I am not professional yet, working my way up to being one has been challenging. The amount of times I’ve had horrible creative block or discouragement from people I loved, or the product I was presenting just wasn’t appealing. It took a lot of dying to myself to acknowledge that this is supposed to happen before it becomes perfect. I overcame these challenges by faith if I’m being frank. It’s not popular in my culture and in this day. However, God has given me grace to keep moving forward. If there’s one thing I want the world to know is this. It is your weaknesses that make you great. The parts of you that you’re deficient in, not good at, continuously fail in. That is what makes you the greatest. It’s written “in order to be the greatest in this life you must be the least”. I’ve felt like that my whole life. I am still here with faith waiting to see a miracle with continuous persistence and perseverance.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m from Chicago and now have moved to Orlando so it depends where I’m at. Orlando, let’s go to Icon park hit up yard house for their food and drinks. Maybe drive down to Tampa for a baseball, hockey or football game. I love St. Petersburg beach a lot for its aesthetic just like downtown Tampa. I love coffee so I might go to Vanessas coffee shop in the mornings or KeKe’s for breakfast. Not to mention the obvious theme parks like Disney or Universal that is always a nice vacation feel when we’re there. Also, a lot of gyms in Orlando have some cool WWE wrestlers or influencers that workout there. I wouldn’t advise bothering them. Nevertheless it’s cool to see people you look up to in your everyday surroundings in proximity making you feel like a kid again.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Not to sound sappy or “cliche” when recognizing them, but my mother is one the greatest and most influential people in my life. Her upbringing was being a poor woman raised in a broken home in the south side of Chicago. Parents divorced, and two siblings that had passed away in her childhood into adulthood. This woman today has raised 4 kids, 23 years married, and has a master degree in Science of nursing. Most of all a woman of faith. If she can do all that suffering all she has. How much more can I with her being my mother & mentor?
