Meet Sandy Booth | Owner, The Yoga Booth and RYT-E 500 Yoga Teacher

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sandy Booth and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sandy, what do you attribute your success to?
Our growth as a yoga studio is a team effort. Without the commitment of our dedicated teachers along with our support staff at the front desk, our business couldn’t exist. We have a vision of providing wellness opportunites for all levels. We offer weekly yoga classes, wellness workshops, reiki sessions and yoga teacher education. Our philosophy of yoga is inclusive of all regardless of ability.
What should our readers know about your business?
My career path would not be considered typical. It’s more of a winding road. I had a career in Real Estate Sales and also worked in the corporate world in sales and marketing. I fell in love with the practice of yoga and decided to go to yoga teacher training in 2011. I taught yoga in the community for about 9 years. In those years, my goal was to one day open my own studio. I had a vision of what I wanted to create in the community. A place that was welcoming and encouraging to everyone. During this time, I was also beginning to explore and deepen my creative art practice as a mixed media artist. I joined an art studio in 2017 with 3 other friends. In 2020 I found a building that would make the perfect location for a yoga studio and the journey to a business owner/yoga studio/art gallery began. We opened with our first yoga class on October 3, 2020. Our community showed up to support us and I am forever grateful to those who believe in our vision and purpose. The Yoga Booth has become a sanctuary for yoga students and teachers who create the larger vision of our work in health and wellness practices and also serves as an art gallery for my work as a mixed media artist. My vision of providing a space of welcome and encouragement for every BODY has grown and developed into much more. We offer weekly and monthly yoga classes, wellness programs, senior yoga, prenatal programs, and yoga teacher education through our yoga academy. We hold yoga retreats for specific learning opportunities on-site as well as destination sites. I have partnered with yoga teachers who have passion and vision for teaching and inspiring others in a welcoming and encouraging way. We offer growth and learning opportunities for students who are searching for a place to call home.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My ideal day in my town with my friend would start with morning yoga class at The Yoga Booth. We would grab a quick bite to eat at Muddy Miser’s restaurant with a view of the storied Muskingum River. We would then visit a few of my favorite art galleries. Girl Upcycled and Bunko Jess next door to the restaurant are always full of colorful art inspiration. The Art Loft is a working studio lociated in the upstairs of an old warehouse, full of the creative energy of 4 of my dear friends. Local sculptor, Alan Cottrell is a nationally known artist with a working studio and gallery in Zanesville, so a visit there is a must see for any visitor. Taking a break for some sunshine and fresh air, we would visit our local park Mission Oaks Gardens, our own little secret public garden hidden in a quiet residential neighborhood. Our evening meal would be at Rake’s Place enjoying great food and live local music.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There is a saying that goes – No man is an island and I have been blessed with so much love and support during my life. My husband Jack, our children, countless friends and mentors over the years have all had a part in my story. Every experience, every journey has been its own education. But I’ve never accomplished anything without the support and guidance of my support system.
I thank Becky Joseph for her nomination for this wonderful opportunity on The Shoutout
