Meet Shaletha Sanders | CEO and Founder

We had the good fortune of connecting with Shaletha Sanders and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shaletha, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting JMJ Cosmetics was, “I wanted to create a cosmetic line for the everyday teen or adult that will complete their look whether it is for a professional look or for a sexy date night.”
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Educationally, I graduated from The Ohio State University earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts and Sciences. I majored in Criminology and minored in Sociology. I earned a Master’s Degree at Walden University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am a counselor resident at a local counseling agency in Ohio. Additionally, I am an entrepreneur and the CEO for JMJ Cosmetics.
I am where I am today due to sacrifices and long hours of studying. It was not easy, but I overcame the challenges by implementing time management and prioritizing my activities. Lessons I learned along the way is to practice self-care, because it is essential to my mental, physical, and spiritual well-being.
I want the world to know that when God created me, He created a MASTERPIECE. JMJ Cosmetics was launched as a result of how I know first hand what it means to hide behind lipstick, mascara, lashes, etc.,. I struggled with depression and anxiety, but decided to reach out for professional help to achieve happiness and a fulfilled life. Now, I am able to help individuals walk in freedom.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my BFF was visiting, first stop would be one of my favorite restaurants, Mitchell’s Ocean Club Restaurant. The food is delicious! Next stop would be Easton Shopping Center to shop until we drop!!!
Next day, I would take my BFF to my church, Faith Empowerment Center. Lastly, I would take my BFF to visit my family.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a shout out to my loving husband, Apostle Joel Sanders. He has encouraged me to chase after my dreams and not to be afraid to take risks in life. He’s my biggest supporter and #1 fan. I am grateful to God to have him in my life.
