Hi Shalonda, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind the success of my brand was discovering the common ways others describe me—genuine, approachable, and professional—and then building my brand around those traits. This approach keeps me true to myself and creates authentic connections with my clients.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’ve reached where I am today in my business through continual education, receiving valuable mentorship, and staying consistent with the practices I’ve applied over time. This combination of learning, guidance, and persistence has been key to my growth and success.
It was not easy to get where I am today in my business, especially with the constant changes in the industry. Maintaining the mindset to not let those challenges sway my commitment to my business and persevering through difficulties is how I was able to overcome them and continue moving forward.
A key lesson I’ve learned along the way is that trouble doesn’t last forever. Just like there’s rain, there’s also sunshine. If I stay the course through the storm, I’ll eventually make it to the rays of light and success that follow. Perseverance is what gets me through.
What I want the world to know about my business and my story is that it’s truly my faith in God that keeps me grounded and in a positive mental state to overcome any challenges I might face. This faith empowers me to help my clients achieve one of the greatest dreams they could have—homeownership—with confidence and dedication.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I were to take you out in my city for a great time, we’d start at The Heights restaurant above the Renaissance Hotel downtown, which offers amazing views and a great atmosphere. We’d also visit Glass City Metro Park downtown for its beautiful scenery, TolHouse, a vibrant social club, and Levis Commons in Perrysburg, where you’ll find a variety of entertainment and eateries. These places provide an enjoyable environment with great food, and you’re sure to run into and meet some amazing people in the city.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I most definitely want to give a shout out to my wonderful husband Derrick Thurmond for the support of me going from my office job to an entrepreneur building my own business. My mother Rugeana Tarrent, who stayed by my side as I was building it. In the industry, I want to give a shout out to Dave Browning (R.I.P.) who was an amazing manager/mentor. And after his disheartened passing, Elaine Schlagheck stepped in and is still amazing in helping me with my business today as well as Greg Erlanger who helped me take my business brand to a whole new level in just one year.
