Meet Shiffon Miller Sherita Thompson | Women Walking In Purpose

We had the good fortune of connecting with Shiffon Miller Sherita Thompson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shiffon Miller, what’s the most difficult decision you’ve ever had to make?
The most difficult decision that I had to make was starting the non profit because I wasn’t sure how many people would show support. I was actually surprised when we had our first event which was the cost drive how many people supported and donated for the cause. It gave us more encouragement and motivation to continue to give back to the community and to those who are in need.
What should our readers know about your business?
I am most proud of getting myself motivated to start this non profit because I am also a life coach and yoga instructor and I wanted to add something else to my professional background. I got to where I am a today through faith and perseverance. For years I have wanted to start my own business and have a non profit. I have always given back to the community since I was a child because my parents always kept me involved in many different community service initiatives just to name a few coats for kids, toys for tots, assisted the girls scouts at the Columbus Urban League and feed individuals at the homeless shelter.
I want the world to know that it’s important to give back to your community especially if you have it to give. Giving back doesn’t always mean monetary. Just giving your time to those who are in need will show that you are compassionate and you care. Having this non profit will definitely reflect that for years to come.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting the area I would take them to the short north area in Columbus Ohio. There are so many different restaurants such as Forno Kitchen which has very tasty food and beverages. Then from there we would visit the short north art district because we are both into art and love going to different museums to see unique art.
From my view the most exciting places for people to check out would be the Easton area as well because it has definitely grown over the years and so many places to adventure to and check out.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shoutout my parents because they seen my vision to start my non profit organization. They have always been my support system in any business adventure that I wanted to partake. One day I just decided that I was going to take my chance and make it official to have my own non profit. My co founder who also had the same vision as me even gave me encouragement to get it started because I had my reservations about getting it started but she said let’s do it and we did. We are very excited for the future of our non profit.
