We had the good fortune of connecting with Speed Walton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Speed, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I think for me it wasn’t my choice it was already written for me before I got here on earth, it was my calling, my duty from the creator as a vessel/messenger for a purpose bigger than myself. I’ve always had that strong feeling to create, seen visions I couldn’t run from being a creator if I tried and trust me I have tried to run away from being a artist because the business attached to my industry is a shrewd place filled with energy I personally don’t care for but my purpose is bigger than what I feel in that regard so I keep going and only hope to bring people from all walks of life together through the art that I share. Whatever Allah purpose for me is with it will be but for myself creating music and art in general has always been therapeutic for me in my journey as I hope it is for others when they listen

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think my story is one of determination and never giving up no matter the circumstances and road blocks in the way, the I think the extreme amount of focus and attention to detail in my songwriting, eclectic music selection to create on and flow patterns and pockets I use set me apart from all the musicians in my lane. I’m excited about the current release of my album “Pearls” I worked on it through the pandemic with my friends from my hometown Sal Dali, T-Nava of the Free Nationals, Art Kids Santa we really just locked in made the process of creating easy. We all come from Cincinnati, Ohio a place where having big time major labels and many resources to get your art to the world isn’t exactly ideal so us being in Los Angeles a place where those outlets do exists just fuels you even more and chances we are all here just seemed like everything was divine timing. I think me actually leaving my hometown was ideal and got me out of my comfort zone, biggest lesson I learned through my journey is probably don’t get to high on the highs and to low on the lows the entertainment industry is a rollercoaster and it can always go up and down in a blink of an eye 👁️ everything happens on gods time so just keep working on your craft spend your time on your craft and just keep going for whatever your goals are just but on the blinders and keep working if you want it bad enough you’ll get it the benefits of the grind.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I have a lot of favorite spots in Los Angeles but the first place I would take them to a few of the beaches Venice, Santa Monica, and Malibu and cruise down the PCH I think that is just mandatory if you haven’t been to Los Angeles before. It’s so many hidden gems in Los Angeles but I would say make sure you go to Salsa & Beer, lock & key, pointe Vincent light, pacific palisades, wayfare chapel, super vinyl USA, the last book store… really so many to name I’ll just start and end there.
