We had the good fortune of connecting with Swooty Mac and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Swooty, how do you think about risk?
You can’t win without taking risk. Being a rapper, playing it safe has never really been my approach to anything. Thats not the kind of comfort I want. Especially when I’m in the creative process.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a rapper/singer/songwriter. As long as I have the means to create, the work is never done. The biggest challenge is to just keep going. I make what I feel, thats all. Sometimes I’m the biggest player to walk this earth. Other days… not so much. It can be a roller coaster at times. The biggest thing I want people to take away from my art is that this is ME. I’m not perfect I’m just me. Hopefully that inspires people to tap into themselves more.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m a real homebody these days. I like to cook so that’s always an option. As far as stepping out, I’m hitting Park Place, Hooligans, Bargos, pretty much anywhere with some good wings and drinks. Majority of my friends at home are also artists so I’m sure if I holla at Siri Imani, Yazi or Devin Burgess I’m almost guaranteed too have a good time.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shout out to my daughters. Lily and Karter. Shout out my whole GKFAM family. A lot of this would be impossible without these people.
