We had the good fortune of connecting with Tanya Moorehead and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tanya, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success not only as an entrepreneur but as a Personal Trainer has and will always be that I never compromising my character. I’m always honest, understanding, transparent and stay 100% authentic to who I am even when taking another path would accelerate my growth and success. I know this is the main factor behind my success of business and my brand. My brand represents strength that is why is has been successful.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Transcend Training is a special place and you feel it when you walk in our doors. It’s not just a place to workout. It’s a place to transform your life. It’s a place where everyone is welcome, never judged and always supported. It’s a whole vibe that’s what I’m proud of. I’m proud of building the space for others to feel what I know they can feel. We are unique in the fact that we make you feel a way that other health and wellness spaces can’t make you feel. We show people what living a healthy lifestyle really feels and looks like. I’m always excited to grow and bring new things to the table for our clients and our community. We grew a ton this past year in many ways and I’m super pumped about that. Nothing I’ve done on this journey the past 12 years has been easy but worth it all. Opening during a pandemic presented a ton of challenges but like all challenges I’ve faced on this journey I’ve just learned to pivot, recreate, be innovative and do not fear the challenges but face them head on. The lessons have been endless sometimes grueling but without the constant lessons good and bad growth inside of self and a business will never happen. I’m grateful for them because every single time there’s a lesson or challenge a new path and door to more amazing has presented itself. I want the world to know we’re here to make a difference. We’re here to impact as many lives as possible in a positive way. We’re here to stand strong.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The 1st stop would definitely be Chenault Vineyards for a drink and some snacks from their charcuterie boards. They always have the best local musicians to listen to for a chill night. Of course we’d get some workouts in at Transcend Training because well it’s the most fun place to be in Richmond.
We’d head to Lexington to some of our favorite spots like Malones for sushi and bourbon.
For fun we’d go throw some axes at Battle Axes.
A definite while visiting is a few distilleries and bourbon tours around Lexington.
We’d stop in to see my favorite hair stylist Mckenna in Lexington at Bomb Shell for some lash and hair pampering.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’m extremely grateful for the support from my husband and my kids. Without my husband pushing me to open Transcend Training during the pandemic in 2020 I would not be living this life that I love so much. I’ll never forget him saying “what’s the worst that can happen? The bank say no and not give you the loan? So what at least you’ll know you tried and won’t have any regrets.” That’s powerfully life changing. My kids have been my biggest fans, motivators and my why behind it all.
