We had the good fortune of connecting with Tasha Rupert and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tasha, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
Perseverance. Seeing it thru even when things get hard. As with life, owning a business is all about riding the high and lows and adjusting accordingly.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Soap making is my creative outlet. Its a medium that is often overlooked but each soap loaf is uniquely created and hard to replicate. I like to say I co- create with nature. I only use essential oils and plant based colorants such as turmeric, rose clay and botanical infusions to color and scent my products. While I have varieties of soap and skincare products I carry year round, I also like to appreciate and flow with the seasons. Over the last couple of years, I expanded soap making into a full line of skincare, wellness, cleaning and apothecary items. Keeping ingredients minimal while being mindful of my environmental impact is the foundation of Rooted Essentials.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First night out would have to be dinner and wine at my favorite restaurant – Cecil and Lime in Springfield. The follow morning I would start our day in eclectic Yellow Springs with a yoga session at AUM. Then spend the day hiking in John Bryan and shopping followed by an evening of laughs at Dave Chapelle’s Comedy Club. Brunch the follow morning at Ellies Restaurant in town and dinner back up in Springfield at Speakeasy Ramen followed by drinks and a girls night out downtown Dayton at the Oregon District.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would dedicate this shoutout to my grandmother. She has been an entrepreneur herself for the last 30 years. Not only has she been my biggest fan, she is the pioneer of what success looks like when you are kind, hard working and authentically yourself.
