We had the good fortune of connecting with Tia Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tia, how do you think about risk?
I think taking risks opens the door for new opportunities. Fear of failure previously held me back from putting myself out there and trying new things. Over the last couple years, I’ve really branched out and taken risks in my personal and professional life that have significantly paid off. Starting multiple businesses has really helped me elevate my career. Through my business endeavors I’ve developed many meaningful relationships which I’m thankful for.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The name of my business is Fashion_is_a_habit. I consider myself a Creative Consultant. As a Creative Consultant I style clients and plan/organize events such as weddings, baby showers, and birthday parties. The mission of my business is to create luxurious experiences for less. I show people that they can have beautiful experiences without spending a lot of money. I’m excited that people feel empowered when they speak to me. I encourage people to embrace their style and not be dictated by trends or what other people think. Trial and error helped me to get where I am. I think sometimes there is pressure to have it all figured. I’ve learned that none of us have it all figured out and that it’s alright to try different things and fail. Failure is how you learn and grow. The journey hasn’t been easy but through the ups and downs I keep going. I overcome challenges by continuing to push myself even on the hard days. The biggest lesson that I’ve learned along the way is that you can’t wait for people to support you. Sometimes you have to separate yourself and do the hard work on your own. I want the world to know that my business isn’t just about looking good on the outside but doing the work on the inside as well.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I always have an amazing time with my best friend Jackie when she comes to visit me. If she were to visit me for a week, we would kick things off by going to Swirl Wine Bar in Solon, Ohio. I love the beautiful atmosphere, the friendly vibes, and being able to enjoy live music. From there we would go to Roll house to bowl. Anytime we travel we always like to do something that is interactive and gets us up and moving around. We would spend the rest of the week shopping and enjoying the local restaurants. I live close to the Aurora Farms Outlet mall, which has many of my favorite store such as: Nike, Polo, and Michael Kors. Also, some of the local restaurants that I like to eat at are Kitchen 56, Simply Greek, and Burntwood Tavern.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my grandmother. My grandmother is one of the strongest people that I know. She has been a wonderful example and role model to not only me but many other people as well. I am thankful that she raised me on strong Christian values and always encourages me to keep God first. She is my biggest supporter and it’s a blessing to have her in my life. My mother deserves credit as well. Working hard for what you want is a value that she instilled in me at a young age. I’m thankful for her setting an excellent example of what it means to work hard. I come from a close-knit family, and I believe that has played a significant role in my success.
