We had the good fortune of connecting with Tiana Dean and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tiana, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?

I went the Artistic route because there’s something about creating that I just love. I’ve been a creator all my life. My imagination is wild and making things how I see, or hear it in my mind is fun for me! I grew up very active and free spirited. I loved to paint, a make up games, always doing something that wasn’t pertained to anything besides what made me feel good. I was planning on being a graphic designer when I was in school. So any path I would have taken would have landed me in a creator’s position. We’re all creative, even when it comes to our jobs! That’s what makes each and everyone special. Also if I may add, doing the same thing every day just doesn’t sit right me, something has to add to that element of excitement and fulfillment for me when it comes to working. That’s why they say do what you love! I love writing, singing, dancing and much more!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an independent recording artist and songwriter. I’ve been blessed with a gift when it comes to music. It’s something that has been in me since a child! I been a recording artist for the last 8-9 years but literally have been singing and dancing and writing for as long as I can remember! The growth is incredible and makes me very proud. I’ve always imagined being a pop star , a music sensation and one day I just decided to go ahead and do it.
I worked really hard to become an entertainer. Self taught in almost anything I’ve had to do. It’s been sacrifices I’ve had to take, less time with my family. Learning the business! Nothing is ever easy, but it’s always obtainable! I tell people all the time you can do it!
Prayer has helped me overcome everything. We’re all human so we all have those days, those moments, those long periods of time we’re we just don’t feel like ourselves and we want to give up, but prayer is what helped me overcome all challenges.
I’m still learning so much from everything , but I would say not being afraid to take risk is a good lesson I have learned so far. surrounding yourself around those who take what you’re doing seriously and are doing it too will show you if you’re doing what’s needed to get done to obtain your goal!
The message about my brand I want to share with the world is love= simplicity. I do everything I can with love and doesn’t get more simpler than that.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well it definitely would depend on the day, so let’s say it’s sunny and nice out all week! I would take my friend to a few cool bars I like around the city! Somerset, Ghost Baby, anywhere with a really pretty scenery! Maybe some rooftop bars. We would go eat at Cooper Hawk because I love that place! I would love to take my friend to see a comedy show or see what kind of live entertainment experience we can find around town.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There’s so many people to thank that really allows for me to pursue my dream, but my number one shout out would go to my manger Kam! Owner and creator of Blackdolla LLC! The way he has put his faith in me and started this career moving forward is beyond compare. It’s nothing that I would have been able to do on my own. He keeps me encouraged, prepared, sain if I must say. It means a lot when someone else believes in you to the magnitude that they refocus everything around making sure you make it as a team and that’s been really important to me these last few years. I went from being completely by myself, just me and my engineer to a family and a foundation to stand on behind my music and we will continue to grow from here!
