We had the good fortune of connecting with Tila Darshae and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tila, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My initial thought process was “It’s now or never”. I have contemplated starting 3 Sisters Kombucha for the past 5 years or so. I would get so excited thinking about the ” what ifs”, followed by the fear of doubt. I knew nothing about starting a beverage company and did not know anyone who I could go to as a mentor with questions. I knew It would be something I would have to commit to 150% and that I would go through plenty of leaps and bounds. But 1 thing about me is that I am always willing to give something new a try. I am also always willing to bet on myself. I’ve let a lot of “life things” get in the way. Reality is that life will not stop happening and a perfect moment or time doesn’t always happen either . For people like myself, if we want things to happen we have to make it happen. I don’t have the help, knowledge and funds to start but in time I will. I just have to start and take things as they come. I am more determined than ever to make it happen now.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My current titles have been a long time coming. I have always had a love for creating and expression. I grew up dancing competitively at my Aunts dance studio in Middletown, Ohio. I have been dancing and teaching every since. I’m currently a dance instructor at Fully Loaded Dance Studio. Just last year our junior dance team placed in the top 20 at the HipHop International Worlds. We offer child and adult dance and fitness classes. Our website is www.FullyLoadedDanceStudio.com.

In my early 20s is when I developed a passion for health and wellness. I’m not sure where it came from but I took a great interest to it. Mainly because I was always discovering something new and interesting that I hadn’t known. Fast forward to my mid 20s I was dropping knowledge and health facts to all my friends and family even if they did not want to hear it lol. Yes I am one who reads the ingredients on the back of what I buy. During this time is when I began to experience chronic bloating and gut issues. After years of research of trying to find a cause and a fix of how to heal my gut I stumbled into kombucha. This was in 2016 and no one around me even knew what it was. I instantly fell in love with it and started drinking it regularly. It became a staple in my household. Being the adventurous person I am I researched how to make it myself. Before you knew it my condo looked like a science room as I had glass jars filled with bacteria all around. It was so cool to me. I wavered on the idea of making a business out of my project for the next 5 years or so. Finally after having my daughter in 2022 I felt that it was time to finally do it. I wanted to create something for her. I want to be able to give her the world. But most importantly I wanted to show her that I can do this by living out my own dreams. I want to be the example. I want her to experience seeing this first hand. That’s when I decided that yes I deserve to live out my dreams and create a life of abundance. Abundance to me is being in alignment. Waking up excited to go to work. Excited to create. This is how and why 3 Sisters Kombucha was created. I know it will not be a easy road but its one I am willing to take, even though I have no idea where I will end up, I know it will be good and worth it.

Going back to 2022 after I had my daughter. Being a dance teacher I was ready to get back into the studio. I was excited to get back in the gym, but my body was like wait a minute, nope not yet. I had been blessed with good genes and after my 2 previous pregnancies I was able to hit the ground running again shortly after. This time was different. I was older, my body had changed. I had to take a different approach to working out. I couldn’t lift like I wanted to and I was suffering from severe sciatica. I was experiencing for the first time the same story as so many other women after giving birth. So I decided to give myself grace and reroute. I had to listen to my body and give it time to recover. On top of that I now had a beautiful baby girl at home who wanted her mommy near her as much as possible which made leaving the house for the gym increasingly hard. So I decided to dance instead. I didn’t need to squat 100 lbs I just needed to get moving. I decided to post some dance fitness videos on Instagram that I filmed in my backyard while my daughter sat in her walker watching me. I received tons of messages from women who were excited to try it themselves. I was excited that I could combine my love for both dance and fitness and it be accepted by so many others. I teach in person classes at Fully Loaded Dance Studio which is a complete party and lots of fun. I am excited to announce that in Fall of 2024 @Tilas_dance_Werkouts will have an online membership option for dance fitness, group coaching, and more!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live just north of the city so I have become a regular at the liberty town center. There is shopping, food and “dora” drinks all around. They have brunch, lunch and dinner options. There is even have a fitness gym. The kids like to go for ice cream and the playground. My friends and I like to do the Coopers Hawk wine tasting. That is always a good time. Of course we are all going to take a dance WeRkout or heels dance class. If it is football season we will definitely be snagging football tickets. WHODEY!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shout out God for his guidance and mercy through my life and journey. He has allowed amazing people to come into my life that not only support my adventures but also inspire me through their leadership, hard work and determination that they display themselves. I am constantly reminded whether I am at the kitchen making kombucha, at the studio teaching a class or brunch with my friends that anything is possible as long as I keep God first, have faith and fully commit to the process. I would like to specially shout out my sister Taylor who lives in Texas but has helped me with the website development for 3 Sisters Kombucha and Tila Dance WerkOuts which will be live fall 2024 for online dance fitness memberships. I also would like to shout out my 2 sons Jaeden and Carter who help me out at the kitchen, markets and pop up events regularly. They are such hard workers and play a vital role in the operation of 3 Sisters Kombucha.
