Meet Timothy Funk | Executive Director – Stockhands Horses for Healing

We had the good fortune of connecting with Timothy Funk and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Timothy, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Our organization helps provide equine assisted therapeutic services to individuals with physical and developmental disabilities as well as those struggling with mental health and addiction recovery. We provide a place of belonging to individuals in our community while helping them heal and work through their challenges.
What should our readers know about your business?
Stockhands Horses for Healing was created in 2014 to serve children and adults with develpomental disabilities and to create a program for Veterans in the central Ohio area where they can lay down their burdens, work with horses and get connected to other Veterans and get the help they need. Our program has grown from those two core groups to working with local schools, community groups and other organizations in mental health, addiction recovery and much more.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had a friend visiting for the week, I would start with a visit to Stockhands for them to see the incredible work we do. Then I would plan to visit places like the National Veterans Memorial and Museum in downtown Columbus, Have lunch at places like City Barbecue who not only has great food but also is very involved with the community. A night out seeing a Broadway of Columbus show at the Palace theater and then back to my home town of Delaware to go trail riding at Alum Creek Resevoir.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I wouild like to recognize the Veterans and Volunteers at Stockhands Horses for Healing. Without their support and assistance with our Veterans program, we would not be able to serve approximately 250 unique individuals through this program. Their countless hours of dedication and service make me extremely proud of our organization.
