Meet Tina Reynolds | Master stylist and colorist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tina Reynolds and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tina, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting Salon NeXt was that I wanted more for my loyal clients. I wanted a place where they felt special, nurtured and respected.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Tina Reynolds established Salon NeXt in 2015. And has activity being in the industry for 30 years. The salon is strictly independent stylists with the exception of stylists in the mentorship program in which their goal is to be independent. Tina also strives to be a mentor to her whole team, give them someone to look up to and know that they’ll be supported in their journey whatever that maybe be, to just be an independent stylist or a salon owner themselves one day. Her biggest challenges were finding the right stylist to join the salon, and since the salon wasn’t in the best location visually in the 1st 8 years; getting the salon noticed by the public. Which required constant volunteering and being active in the community, which she still does to this day, Tina has learned to not listen to the people telling her she can’t and listen to advise from other successful business owners, there’s always something new to learn. In 2021 Tina partnered to make Salon NeXts very own product line, NeXtiles. And Sept 2025 the salon will celebrate 10 years in business!!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely take them to Leslee Keegan’s I’mPower fitness center in Ravenna for a couple workouts and to meet an awesome group of people that work and/or workout there. For Brunch? hands down Over Easy in Kent. A beautiful walk? The hike/ bike trail in Kent that follows the river! It’s a perfect place for photos also! Dinner would be at Arnie’s steakhouse in Ravenna and the Lake House in Kent. A beer? McArthur’s brewery in Cuyahoga Falls, must to try the sour cherry! Beer and shuffleboard? 101 Bottles in Kent. For a night out? The speakeasys in Cuyahoga Falls.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Special shout out to my husband Marty for holding down the fort while I was working long late hours and for all his time at the salon fixing, painting, cleaning etc. To my daughter Paige for her amazing graphic designs, son and daughter in law Devin and Shea for their social media expertise and my daughter Teagan for looking up to me making me always want to be a better person. My loyal clients for believing in me and rooting me on through my journey. And last but not least my Salon NeXt co-workers for being supportive and trusting me.
