We had the good fortune of connecting with Torie Ashley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Torie, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
Taking care of my physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. Self care is something I prioritize in every aspect of my life. I realized that without taking care of myself, how would I able to take care of others. I am more useful when I’ve taken care of my wellbeing first.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My career is something that is constantly being built, I co-own Ace Community House, as well as run our program Heart of Healthcare. Besides my philanthropy, I enjoy being a creative. I think a creative can come in many forms. As I’ve been creating I’ve also been making it content. Growing into a content creator is such an interesting and fun journey. I have been learning a lot about myself. Something I learned recently, is that I have an affinity for cinematic pieces as well as screen-writing. I have always loved free writing and spoken-word but adding script and life into it feels exhilarating. This feels like a huge leap from being in front of the screen modeling but I am so excited and big on not limiting myself. Right now, managing my business while still being a creative and pushing out content is my focus. I love what I do and I’m blessed to be able to do it.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Now that I am twenty one, there’s more to explore! There is still plenty of family friendly fun to do but I’d say now that I am of age, and exploring young adult life, The Ohio State University student life restaurants / bars/ entertainment is definitely a great go-to. Downtown Columbus restaurants like The Walrus and Milestone 229 are also great places to enjoy good food and a nice environment.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A person I would like to shout-out is my best friend, and my beautiful mother La’Quisa Richardson. She is the first half of our nonprofit Ace Community House and I would not be doing everything that I do without her. She is my inspiration and right hand.
