We had the good fortune of connecting with Trish Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Trish, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
“The purpose of life is to contribute in some way to making things better” – Robert F. Kennedy

I love this quote. No matter what you have or who you are, everyone can do something to help others. It takes very little to be kind.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Professionally, I’m retired after working in the insurance industry for 44 years, most recently as a Program Director with Liberty Mutual Insurance. I’ve also been involved with other organizations including the Parkinson’s Foundation, Arthritis Foundation and Indiana Donor Network. Personally, I am from Indiana, moving to Montgomery in 2021 where I reside with my husband Dan and our other dog Knute. We have a blended family of 6 adult children and 9 grandkids and too many fur babies to count. My dog Rosie and I have been members of Pet Partners of Cincinnati since 2022 and Rosie and I visit Bethesda North Hospital and Hospice of Cincinnati weekly. We’ve also been fortunate to take advantage of the varied visit requests including schools, special ed classes, corporations and first responder opportunities. I’ve seen firsthand not only the impact our awesome teams make, but the respect of our organization with our partners and in our communities.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love having breakfast at the European Cafe in downtown Montgomery, Oh. This is a quaint, small business that has the best coffee in town and fabulous food. We visit weekly (sometimes more!) as we love the “at home” feel. Lunch would be a trip to downtown Cincy and Findlay’s Market. There can sample all the great foods Cincy has to offer. Dinner would be at the Silver Spring House, which offers a varied menu and great, casual atmosphere. For a more formal dinner, Carlo & Johnny’s is always a favorite!

For fun, we take a trip to Summit Park in Blue Ash where there are always events, a walking trail and dog park. For families, King’s Island amusement park is nearby and for the sport’s enthusiast, we have the best! Football with the Cincinnati Bengals, Red’s baseball and FC Cincinnati soccer as well as college sports, with our favorite being Xavier Musketeer basketball!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shout out is to Pet Partners. Pet Partners is a non-profit organization whose mission is to improve human health and well-being through the human–animal bond. The human–animal bond is a mutually beneficial relationship that improves the physical, social, and emotional lives of those we serve, and should benefit the animals as well. Locally, Pet Partners of Greater Cincinnati are able to provide unconditional love, emotional support, comfort, joy, and a pleasant distraction from the everyday stresses in life by allowing our pets to interact and bond with the people they meet. We strive to make a positive difference in the lives we touch in all the facilities we visit, including health care facilities, retirement communities, and schools, while we educate the community about the significant value of the human-animal bond.
