Meet Turich Benjy | Recording Artist & Creative Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Turich Benjy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Turich, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I view risk taking as a faith based process. You have to be some sort of a high believer in whatever it is you’re risking something or someone for. You also have to accept that it doesn’t have to land in your favor, as you envisioned it. You also have to be delusional enough to work towards the feeling of taking a leap of faith. Sacrificing and risking doesn’t always have a negative connotation either. You can sacrifice watching tv just to encourage other, better habits to reach your goal. I’ve learned risk taking was just disciplining myself sometimes. But if you love someone or something seriously, you will eventually walk that spiritual battle.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a creative I’ve always been inspired by life and the things I’ve seen and heard. Therefore I study. I truly believe I’m a student of life first, allowing me to be able to articulate what I’m ingesting. I still look for opportunities to perform freely to try new elements in my shows. I’ve learned to like practice. I have memories of being 13 and wishing I could just simply play outside and not take rehearsals serious. But when I would get on stage and have an off show I wanted to be better and I still have that in me 20 years later. And that’s where my brand “ALIEN” comes to life. ALIEN is an acronym for At Least I’m Eating Now. Simple and plain. Everyday I’m grateful for another chance to shoot my shot, and no matter what the circumstances are, I still eat, I still wake up. Until I don’t anymore. At least I’m eating now.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Favorite spot in cincy I’m taking you the any thrift store. Cincinnati has some of the coolest thrift stores and prices in all of America. Night spots I’m not really into the night scene but love on fourth is a black owned night lounge I’d Recommend and we going straight to NIGHT KAP for food right after. After that I’m a send u back yonder.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
