Meet Tyler Knott Gregson | Nationally best-selling author, poet and national/international wedding and elopement photographer.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tyler Knott Gregson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tyler Knott, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
As an autistic adult, I’ve spent all the years from my college graduation until now, trying to figure out how to never work a traditional job, in a traditional office, with a traditional boss. I have always known I need to lead a live based around creative output, and so I have had to carve it from nothing. I knew I was passionate about writing, about poetry, about photography, and so in some strange alchemy I combined them all in a variety of ways. I knew I needed to travel, so we created a wedding photography company that specializes in destination weddings all over the world, and the United States. We have been fortunate enough to have multiple books published that lets us go on book tours and meet people all over the world. So far, all these years in, I’m still my own boss avoiding all the traditions I knew I couldn’t handle.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Half of me is photography, the other half is words. In 5 of my books, I’ve been able to marry those together, creating books that are hybrids of poetry and fine art photography. I feel, the two art forms finish each other off in so many ways, what I cannot express in words I am able to with photography, what I cannot possibly find to make in image form, I create with my words. It’s always been this way. In addition, I am massively proud how inclusive our business is, as we photography probably 75-80% LGBTQ couples each year. The fact that they feel so safe with us is such a wonderful reminder that we’re on the right path, doing the right thing. There are always challenges, trying to understand how to market yourself and handle the business aspects when that’s not at all how your brain works, trying to find new clients in a world that is all algorithmic. Quite the task.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Montana is a playground for any type of outdoor pursuit. It would be amazing to take people to Yellowstone National Park, then back to our hometown of Helena, MT for relaxation as there’s not much here, and then slowly drive up to Glacier National Park and hike in the park. Home cooked meals, time on our deck overlooking our city, long conversations, tea, and time in nature would be the entire course of action.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I couldn’t do what I do, I couldn’t be what I am, without the love, support, patience, and understanding, of my wife Sarah Linden Gregson. Luckily for me, she has her degree in education, with an emphasis on special needs and Autism, and so she’s been absolutely instrumental in making me feel not only capable, but specifically able to handle so many things that she showed me no one else could do. Without her, there would be no Chasers of the Light, as she is the Light, the original light, that started all the chasing.
