We had the good fortune of connecting with Zach Lewis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Zach, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
In my opinion risk is what makes or breaks a small business. While you can live comfortably with out taking much risk and taking too many risks is not a good idea, you cannot be afraid to go out of your comfort zone.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Starting my Business at the age of 23 was extremely difficult. I had worked in the construction industry since high school but hadn’t quite found my passion. After purchasing my own home a year prior I discovered the home inspection industry and never looked back. My Business partner and I spent countless hours, days, months, years, crafting what we feel is an exceptional company. This industry is filled with solo operators who do an exceptional job but are not able to provide that reliable experience you might receive from larger company. We decided we wanted to fill that void by being professional, reliable, and investing heavily into the best software, hardware, equipment and training to go above and beyond what our competitors are doing.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m usually a pretty flexible person that can enjoy doing just about anything, however my perfect day would be spending the day on the water kayaking along the Cuyahoga river and enjoying some food at El Compasino in Stow. The place doesn’t look like much but the people and food are amazing.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
While everyone I have ever come into contact with has played some type of role in shaping who I am, I would say my biggest influence has been my Mother. She is a very kind, bubbly person who always puts others before herself.
