Meet Isaiah Bey | Founder of A New Dream

We had the good fortune of connecting with Isaiah Bey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Isaiah, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I first started A New Dream, I wanted a brand that didn’t just cater to one ethnicity, culture, or even age group. I wanted to figure out how I could create something that was so diverse everybody could wear it. I realized that there’s many ways to speak your truth in our lifetime. The way I wanted to do it was through fashion.
A New Dream is built off of one thing we can all relate to and that’s struggle. No matter where you come from, what you look like, or what you believe in, there’s something that you had to overcome or trying to overcome.
I wanted to create something timeless that spoke volume to those who purchased. Once they put it on, it was my goal to make them feel like the best versions of themselves. Over the course of this past year and a half, I could pridefully say that’s what we’re building here at A New Dream.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
A New Dream is a lifestyle, a movement, and a brand that specializes in fashion. It all started off as an idea with my sister being a helping hand in 2020, but not officially launching until April 8, 2022. At A New Dream, we want to spread the awareness of true freedom, which is a life lived with no limitations. The goal is to empower others to always follow their dreams despite how hard their path may be.
Throughout my journey and even as I still go through it, I do notice that there’s a few things that separate me from others. One of them being my persistence towards the life I see not only for me, but my family and the ones to come. This leads to educating myself in the necessary areas and taking the risks most won’t.
Learning and applying the knowledge is one of the most powerful things somebody can do in my opinion. These are the first steps to creating and you’ll unlock a different side of yourself. So I have to give my flowers to anybody that’s doing it and making it happen.
If you knew me before all of this and even now, this is how its always been. Growing up, I didn’t really have anybody guiding me or telling me right from wrong. The ones I did look up to were all in the same boat as me. Young and constantly learning from mistakes, just trying to get by. So to answer your question, no. It was never easy. That’s why its my objective to let the world know, “it is possible.” Coming from where I come from, anything should be possible.
I would say one of my accomplishments I’m most proud of is earlier this year, I decided to take a big risk and open up my first kiosk in Mall St. Matthews, the biggest mall in Louisville. There, I became the youngest booth owner. Since then, I’ve been able to experience my biggest days as a business owner, focus full time on the brand, and continuously grow the awareness. I’m proud to say A New Dream is definitely a household name in Louisville, Ky and soon the world.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Crazy that you ask! Born and raised in Louisville, KY, you would think I know more spots than I do! I’m still exploring myself because growing up, I never really had it like that to try new things. Now that I’m in a better position, I’m more open and have been getting out a little more, but I’m constantly on grind mode so not really!
Anybody that visits Louisville has to go to three places though: Kings Chicken on Dixe, any one of the Indi’s Chicken, and the Waterfront downtown for some city views.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate this article to my brother and sister, Jeremiah and Jade Mckissick, along with my cousin Marcquel May. I want to thank you all for staying by my side through it all. The good, the bad, and the ugly. You all have believed in and supported my vision from day one no matter how crazy it sounded.
We’ve been through a lot together and I know it was never the easiest. Now it’s time to receive our blessings in abundance.
I love you all.
