Meet Brian Tidwell | President of Stand up Management

We had the good fortune of connecting with Brian Tidwell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Brian, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Before I started my own business, I worked at McDonald’s for 10+ years. When I discovered comedy, I became obsessed with finding a way to maximize my stage opportunities. I quickly learned that working at McDonald’s would not allow me the time to perform as much as I want. So I decided to start my own business that was I could perform and still provide for my family
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When I’m not running my sales company, I’m performing stand up comedy. Being funny is something that came easy to me. When I was 25 I performed at an open mic, where I met soon to be my best friend Rob Ward. Him and I teamed up and started going through this comedy game together. While doing comedy I learned that there’s a lot of talented people but what separates you is how hard you’re willing to work at your craft. I just want the world to appreciate my creativity and to know that I never cheated the process.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The first spot I would take my best friend is to open Pitt to get some of the best bbq in the city. Then I’d take them downtown to the flats and go the Improv check out some comedy. We would wrap up the day at my favorite non profit Jack Casino.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mother Glendora Tidwell and my grandmother Shirley Tidwell played major roles in success. I watched my mom take care of 4 children on her own and battle adversity everyday without making an excuse or giving up. Those characteristics stuck with me throughout my life. My grandmother was the person who really taught me the details of what it looks like to be a hard worker. She gave me my first job at 8yrs old.
