Deciding to start a business is an unusual decision. It’s often considered irrational and yet for many it’s the best decision they’ve ever made. So we asked folks to think back to when they were starting their businesses and to tell us about their decision making process.
Starting my own business was about fulfilling a deeper calling. After years of training, coaching, and being involved with high-performing athletes, I realized that the traditional models often overlooked the “behind-the-scenes” work—those foundational elements that truly prepare athletes for game day. I was at a crossroads or learning a trade, or going to school for a degree. I wasn’t so sure I wanted to “clock-in” the rest of my life but I was also equally unsure if a college degree was worth the investment. Finally I knew I wanted financial comfort and flexibility to pursue my passions. Entrepreneurship kind of runs in my family and so I made the deep dive into starting a business. Read more>>
For as long as I can remember I have always had a passion for helping others. My inspiration for helping comes from my late mother and grandparents who had always done the same. Growing up I have always witnessed my mother and grandparents putting others above themselves and never judging someone’s downfall out of the love and compassion they have. From offering shelter to those in need to providing a hot cooked meal they have always done some good within their community. After losing my mother at such a young age I felt that I could keep her spirit alive by following in her footsteps and continuing to do good and contributing to a cause that is bigger than myself.
