We had the good fortune of connecting with A Dub and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi A Dub, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I pursued a career in music because ever since I was 13 years old I loved music, especially hip hop/rap. I love the writing process and putting together a song and bringing it to life. Music is my therapy and I enjoy the whole process from start to finish. I want my music to reach people to give them joy, have fun to listen to and also make songs to make people think and work on themselves and stand up for themselves.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am most proud of the fact that I’ve been making music since I was in high school and now at almost 38 years old I am still learning and getting better at it every day. My music is unique and my style is my own and that also makes me proud to do my own thing and not try to copy off or bandwagon from anyone. I have my influences of course, but I stay true to myself and write from the heart about what I feel and care about. It hasn’t been easy, but over the years of meeting new people, doing shows at venues in many cities and states has been worth it 100%. I’ve learned to take criticism, deal with having good turnouts at shows and bad turnouts, and always be open to doing different things. I want everyone to know and remember me by how hard I worked and how I always stayed original and true to myself and stood up for myself. That is also the main message in my music to people.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorite places in the city of Cleveland would be downtown at the Agora Theatre or House of Blues for a live concert. There’s also the science center, the art museum and the history museum if you want to learn something new, see cool things or appreciate some history.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I dedicate my music to my daughter and son. They are the main reason that motivate me to continue to work hard and grow and get better every day and to pursue music as a full time job. I would also like to thank any fan that has enjoyed my music at a show, bought any music or merch and supported me along the way with words of encouragement.
