We had the good fortune of connecting with Amy Lynn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amy, how does your business help the community?
After my father passed in 2019, I made myself a quiet promise: I wanted to take the comfort pieces I create on PurelySaid and bring them directly to parents sitting beside their children in the cancer ward at Akron Children’s Hospital. Anyone who has ever lived in a hospital room knows the truth — parents don’t get to fall apart. They have to be strong at 3 AM, strong when they’re exhausted, strong when they’re terrified. I wanted to give them something they could hold onto in those moments.

My original plan was to create CDs of my content and hand them out personally — something tangible, something they could play without needing Wi‑Fi, something that felt like a gift instead of a link. And then COVID hit. Hospitals shut down, access disappeared, and the entire world shifted. It felt like a gut punch because the mission mattered deeply to me, and suddenly it wasn’t possible in the way I envisioned.

I’m still recovering from what COVID did to all of us — emotionally, creatively, and practically. Even now, some parents and staff are masked, and the idea of handing out physical items feels different than it did before. But the heart of the mission hasn’t changed. My work has always been about comfort, clarity, and support — giving people something to lean on when life is too heavy to carry alone.

Whether it’s through PurelySaid, my voice work, or my digital safety content, my goal is the same: to help people feel less alone. To give them strength when they’re running on empty. To offer peace in moments that feel impossible. The medium may have to evolve — maybe it’s QR cards now instead of CDs — but the purpose remains exactly the same. My work exists to support people in the hardest chapters of their lives, and that impact is what keeps me going.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’ve been a creative my entire life — literally. I started winning art awards at age 12, and that early recognition shaped the way I see the world and the way I express myself. Creativity isn’t something I “found” later in life; it’s the foundation I’ve always stood on.

Today, my work spans voice acting, writing, podcasting, and digital content, but the heart of it is the same: I use my voice and my creativity to bring clarity, comfort, and understanding to people who need it. What sets me apart is that my work is rooted in lived experience and built with intention. I create most of my content myself — the writing, the design, the audio — but I’ve also been fortunate to have mentors along the way who helped me grow, refine my craft, and navigate the industry with confidence.

Getting here wasn’t easy. I’ve had to rebuild myself more than once, and I’ve had to learn how to keep creating even when life was heavy. But every challenge taught me something: resilience, resourcefulness, and the importance of staying grounded in your purpose. The biggest lesson is that your creative voice becomes stronger when you stop trying to fit into the industry and start building from who you truly are.

What I want people to know about my brand is simple: everything I create is intentional. PurelySaid, my voice work, my writing, my digital safety content — it all exists to support, uplift, and protect people in real, practical ways. My art isn’t just expression; it’s service. And I’m proud of the impact it continues to make.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite spot in the entire city isn’t a restaurant or a landmark – it’s my front porch. My brother Scott, my dad, and I used to sit out there for hours just watching the traffic go by. We’ve always lived on busy roads, but when we moved to where I live now back in the 80s, it became something different. It’s a junction street – a connector between multiple highways – and the corner road beside us runs a full mile with almost no stop signs. People fly down it without paying attention, and every six months or so there’s a brutal wreck, sometimes even a car ending up in someone’s house.

When we were kids, Scott named the whole experience “Porchin’.” This was long before the internet. He’d just say, “Wanna go porchin’?” and that was it – we’d head outside and watch the world go by. Over the years we’ve seen everything: speeders hitting 100 mph, police chases, people blowing through school zones, and the kind of near‑misses that make your heart stop for a second.

But porchin’ isn’t just about the chaos of the road. It’s also the peace of the neighborhood. People walk by all day – families, dog‑walkers, neighbors – and you get these little moments of connection: “How you doing?” “Have a blessed day!” “Stay safe out there!” After my father passed, so many people stopped to ask what happened. That’s how I knew how important this simple act really was.

Porchin’ is part entertainment, part community, part memory. It’s the place where I feel closest to my dad, where my brother and I grew up, and where the neighborhood still feels like a neighborhood. Out of everywhere in the city, that porch will always be my favorite spot.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Shoutout goes to my father. PurelySaid began in 2015, but he’s the one who shaped the way I communicate — with calm, clarity, and compassion. He taught me how to show up for people with steadiness, even in difficult seasons, and those lessons became the foundation of everything I create. My faith has always shaped the heart behind that work, but my father shaped the way I carry it. His influence is woven into my voice, my purpose, and the way I support others. He’s the quiet strength behind my entire journey.
