We had the good fortune of connecting with Andria Loczi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andria, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Taking risks means betting on yourself. If you can confidently assess a situation and make a decision that aligns with your values, you can’t go wrong.

I’ve always had a pretty high risk tolerance which I credit back to the confidence I have in myself. Years ago I defined my core values and whenever I’m in a crossroads or need to make a big decision, I fall back on those values. I’ve taken major risks with my career, including being an entrepreneur where uncertainty can be part of your every day. Some of my risks have paid off in big ways, while others don’t work and build into the fabric of my learnings. With those “failed risks” I can apply that knowledge to get even more confident when I have another big decision to make.

Betting on yourself doesn’t mean everything will always work out perfectly, but continuing to believe in yourself and stay aligned to your vision and values will never steer you wrong.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I began my career in Hollywood working in production for the television show Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. After a few years, I moved back to my hometown of Cleveland, OH area and spent 15+ years at a series of Midwest startups leading rapid growth of multiple educational and technology brands.

In 2015, I was the first employee hired to help grow product, marketing and sales channels for education provider Tech Elevator. In March 2020 Tech Elevator was acquired by Stride, Inc for $23M.

In 2022, I co-founded HCO Partners LLC, a neighborhood development company rooted in brick and mortar storefront activation. Our retail-first philosophy and approach focuses on activating people and places – pairing the right concept with the right space. Our first real estate project is a historic property in Cleveland’s Ohio City neighborhood – The Vitrolite – a community space that houses neighborhood businesses Harness Cycle, Soul Yoga and Patron Saint.

My career path hasn’t been linear. Clarity around my purpose was always at the forefront of my mind when navigating career moves. In my 20s, I spent a lot of time building startups with like-minded people who saw the same vision as me. When it got hard I continued to fall back on my values which to this day have never steered me wrong. I learned that balance is bullshit. I learned that if you want something, you need to ask for it. And I learned that if you don’t have the confidence and self-worth to believe in yourself, no one else will.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shoutout to the village of support who always has my back: my husband Matt and family, the Harness Cycle community, my favorite author and leader Simon Sinek who taught me the importance of starting with ‘why’, and my favorite visionary and business partner Anne Hartnett.
