Meet Ashley Edmonson

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashley Edmonson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashley, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
My work-life balance has evolved as my responsibilities have shifted with time. Balancing a full-time job and multiple side hustles while being a single mom requires constant adaptation. Early on, I prioritized financial stability, putting in long hours to build a solid foundation. Over time, I’ve learned to be more intentional with my energy—figuring out what truly moves the needle for me and my child while setting boundaries to avoid burnout.
Now, I think of balance less as an equal split and more as a dynamic system—some days, work takes the lead; other days, my child or self-care comes first. The key is flexibility and knowing that it’s okay to adjust as needed.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My 12 years at Jakprints have not only provided stability and support but have also given me the skills and confidence to step into my own business, MKae Visions LLC. Through this venture, I’ve been able to work as a personal assistant, supporting nonprofits like Operation Lean On Me and helping teach grant writing to local micro schools and other businesses.
The journey to where I am today hasn’t been easy. Balancing a full-time job, side hustles, and being a single mother has required resilience, time management, and constant learning. But every challenge has been an opportunity for growth. I’ve learned the importance of adaptability, building strong relationships, and always striving for the next level.
I want the world to know that success isn’t about having everything figured out from the start—it’s about taking the leap, putting in the work, and embracing every opportunity to learn and evolve. My story is one of persistence, passion, and proving that with the right mindset and support, anything is possible.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting for a week, I’d plan the perfect mix of local eats, scenic spots, and cultural experiences to give them a real taste of what makes this area special.
Day 1: Local Comfort & Hidden Gems
Kick things off at Sirna’s in Bedford for the best bar food and unbeatable prices.
After eating, we’d explore the nameless waterfall in Bedford, a peaceful hidden gem that feels like a secret escape into nature.
Day 2: Culture & Creativity
Spend the day in University Circle, checking out the amazing museums.
A must-visit is the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA)—one of my all-time favorites and best of all, free!
Walk through Little Italy and stop at Prestis the best bakery in town for coffee and sweet treats.
Day 3: Fine Dining & Views
Dinner at Mallorca, hands down some of the best Spanish food in the city.
Afterward, drinks at Michael Angelo’s, soaking in the picturesque views.
Day 4: Outdoor Relaxation
Spend the day at one of the lakefront parks, like Edgewater, enjoying a stroll and catching a serene sunset.
Day 5-7: Flexible Fun
Mix in some local shopping, more great food spots, or maybe a spontaneous road trip to explore more of Ohio’s hidden gems.
This would be the perfect mix of small-town charm, city culture, and scenic relaxation—exactly how I love to experience life here!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Huge shoutout to Nicole Matlus, a powerhouse single mom who runs an incredible nonprofit and continues to inspire those around her! Her passion, dedication, and ability to do it all have pushed me to step up, learn new skills, and open doors I never thought possible.
I also want to give a big thank you to Jakprints, where I’ve worked for over 12 years. The flexibility and support and stability they provide have given me the time and opportunities to build a solid foundation, allowing me to grow both personally and professionally.
And most importantly, I’m beyond grateful for the love and support of my family—their encouragement and strength make all the difference in my journey.
Grateful for strong leaders, supportive workplaces, and family love that keeps me going!
