We had the good fortune of connecting with Dean and Rose Waggenspack and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dean and Rose, how does your business help the community?
All donations and the profits from the sale of our book, The Ledge and the Abyss, will go to Gov Juan F. Luis Hospital in St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands. This is the hospital that cared for my husband Dean after a near death experience. The hospital suffered damage from 2 catagory 5 hurricanes in 2017. They are rebuilding and funds will help them maintain the facility. Additionally, the book’s message inspires us all to make moments matter.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Dean and I have authored a book about Dean’s near death, rescue and recovery. The actions of ordinary people and those of professionals are responsible for Dean being alive today. We wanted to tell the story to recognize and thank our heroes and to give back to the island of St. Croix.

Our book is a true story of the events that nearly took Dean’s life and all that went into his rescue. We give both of our perspectives as we lived through the ordeal. We have also interviewed other key players to tell a complete story. It shows that in the darkest moments, hope remains.
