We had the good fortune of connecting with Devon Teeple and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Devon, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?

My business is deeply rooted in making a meaningful impact on the community and the world, particularly in the realm of mental health and wellness. I’ve always believed that true leadership extends beyond the boardroom, and it’s about being there for people when they need it the most.

One of the core pillars of my work is raising awareness about mental health, particularly anxiety and depression. These are challenges that affect countless individuals, and my coaching services, as well as the resources I provide, are geared toward supporting them. Whether it’s through one-on-one coaching sessions, sharing valuable information, or relaying insights from athletes who are making a difference off the field, the focus remains on promoting mental well-being.

I’m deeply committed to fostering a sense of community and empathy. I believe that businesses and organizations are not just about products or services; they are about people. They are about creating a positive impact on the lives of individuals and the wider community. Through my work, I aim to be that dependable leader who not only guides people towards their goals but also provides support and understanding during their toughest moments.

What i do is a vehicle for social impact. It’s about igniting change, breaking stigmas surrounding mental health, and building a community where people can find the help and support they need to lead healthier, happier lives. This, to me, is the true essence of leadership and social responsibility.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business journey has been incredible, and it’s a story deeply entrenched with my personal experiences (good and bad). Initially, The GM’s Perspective was all about delving into the world of statistics and baseball, providing unique insights into the game. But over time, it transformed into something much more significant.

My business’s focus on people and their incredible stories sets my business apart now. I realized that everyone has a passion, a cause they believe in, or a story to share. The GM’s Perspective has become a platform where individuals can showcase their work, raise awareness for their causes, and make a meaningful impact.

In parallel, my nonprofit initiative, Ignite CHANGE, has been evolving into a vital part of the overall system. It’s not just about giving back; it’s about personal and professional coaching on numerous levels. My vision is to empower individuals and small businesses to reach their full potential, leveraging my diverse experiences in sports, journalism, and business.

What truly excites me and keeps me motivated is the opportunity to contribute to mental health awareness. Mental health should be a priority in the workplace and beyond. It’s about understanding that we all face challenges and that seeking help is okay. Through all of this, I want to provide resources, support, and help guide people in their journey

Has it been easy? Hell no. But failure has been my greatest weapon. I’ve learned that adaptability, empathy, and a genuine commitment to making a positive impact are essential. What I want the world to know about my brand and my story is that it’s built on authenticity,

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

Firstly, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Clint Malarchuk, the former NHL goaltender known for his time with the Buffalo Sabres and the Quebec Nordiques. His openness about his experiences with mental health challenges has been a source of inspiration. Clint’s willingness to discuss his journey has helped shed light on the importance of addressing mental health concerns without any ounce of hesitation.

Next, I’d like to recognize Rick Ankiel, who came up as a flame-throwing lefty with the St. Louis Cardinals and later became an inspiration with the Atlanta Braves. Rick’s high-profile performance issues on the field are a testament to the resilience of the human spirit. His well-publicized story serves as a reminder that vulnerability can lead to incredible strength, especially in the most pressure-filled situations anyone can endure.

Last but certainly not least, I want to thank Corey Hirsch, former NHL goaltender with the Vancouver Canucks and New York Rangers (All-Rookie team goalie and a silver medalist at the 1994 Olympics and bronze medalist at the 1995 World Championships) for his dedication in breaking the stigma surrounding mental health. Corey’s advocacy work and his willingness to share his own experiences have created a platform for meaningful conversations to be had with absolutely anyone.

Their stories have enriched my understanding and reinforced the importance of creating a safe space for conversations and support. Without a shadow of a doubt, their contributions deserve recognition, and I’m honoured to have had the opportunity to engage with them on a personal level, even for only a few short minutes.
