We had the good fortune of connecting with Feather Evans and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Feather, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
My work life balance has been quite the rollercoaster ride over the last four years. I went through a period of switching day jobs, and doing temporary side gigs. All while i was running two small art businesses and vending weekly. It was really tough to find a way to balance all of the hats i wear. Honestly, the classic journaling and drawing my own graphs and calendars is my lifeline. Im such a visual person so it really helps me to draw it out. Bonus if you use them like a sketchbook and make it sort of “fun”.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
In 2016 i arrived in columbus to attend my freshman year at the Columbus College of Art and Design. Terrified, i started my first year taking my artistic path a little more seriously. As a fine art major, i was enamored with all of the directions i could go. I found myself never settling on any specific media. Frequently switching materials and ideas. Going from acrylic painting to room sized installations and sculpture. Today, i find that i keep with the routine of jumping around with media.

A year after graduating college, my wife and i decided to start up a collaborative pop up shop to share some of our art and miscellaneous items we collected. Little did i know that four years later i would co-own a small art business, while also running personal art shop. I share my work in local galleries, vend At art festivals, and consign with a few local businesses in columbus. Having diversity in the way i share my art has allowed me to never feel stuck, continue to experiment, and truly have fun with my craft. Even if it can be wildly overwhelming at times.

Feather Art Studio, the umbrella to all of my artist endeavors allows me to combine my passions for visual art and nature. With a focus in painting, illustration, small scale Natural sculpture, and folk craft. The current collection i have been working on shares the bittersweet daydreams of my longing for the seasons to change. Taking in the beautiful moments surrounded by the forest.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As i have gotten older and graduated college. I find myself becoming more of a recluse, spending all of my extra time making art or exploring outdoors. Over the past four years i have explored so many of central ohio’s amazing metro parks. Gathering materials, inspiration, or birding. I highly recommend trying out new parks, no matter how small. Columbus has such beautiful pockets of nature in the city.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate this to the person who has brought wonder and love in my life, making it all the more magical. My beautiful wife, Kieleen
