We had the good fortune of connecting with Grayson Sebert Antreassian and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Grayson Sebert, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I originally hail from New York City, NY, though during childhood I moved around the States extensively because my parents traveled for work. Eventually, my mother became a single mother due to a turbulent divorce, and took ownership of raising my sister and I virtually on her own. My mother is incredibly strong, resilient, and impressive in all she does, and her kindness and leadership impacted me heavily during adolescence, making me largely who I am today. I am forever grateful for her guidance and mentorship. I also credit New York City for embedding in me a culture of arts and creativity, through Broadway, music and visual art, and absolutely love the city’s chaotic, beautiful energy; it is always inspiring whenever I visit. Lastly, I credit my travels, through moving around and through traveling abroad as an adult, as influencing me headily in my character and personal development. I lived abroad in both China and Costa Rica as an elementary English teacher, and also traveled Europe quite thoroughly. I attribute my own resilience and personable qualities to my ardent love of culture and diversity, and my willingness to explore new places and ideologies openly and without judgment, and always with a curious mind and heart.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an actor, filmmaker, director, and writer/poet, and love most exploring the human condition and psyche in the most elaborate and intense of ways, through literary, visual, and performing arts. I own my own budding film studio, Lycanthrope Studios, which, though still in conception, I believe has a lot of promise for the future of filmmaking. I also have one successful short film under my belt, my first film, The Master (2022), which is a horror film exploring the deepest and darkest of human capacities through the twisted lens of obsessive admiration. I am a published poet in Silent Sparks Press (2022) and am also the recipient of the Global Shorts Los Angeles Film Festivals Special Mention Award (2023). I am most proud of my poetry and The Master (2022), and plan to continue said saga in my upcoming film, Effervescence (2025). Without the support of my inner circle, it would have been nearly impossible to be where I am today, and I am immensely grateful for my friends and family that wish me success. I have a driven passion for the arts that transcends normalcy, and I believe that, too, is what has kept me going in my darkest of times. I am most excited about the prospect of the future– the projects it can bring, the connections I can make, and the changes I can make in the world via my artistic expression.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In regard to my current city, Columbus, OH, I’d say the Short North is where all the action is; where all the creativity and community festers in the best of ways. I’d want my friend to visit on the first weekend of the month, so we could attend the Short North’s Gallery Hop, where a host of artistic vendors display their work. I’d also love to take them to the Public Library and Columbus Museum of Art, two places where I find immense comfort and inspiration. Lastly, I’d love to take them to Townhall, an eatery that bustles with exceptional food and atmosphere.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mother, first and foremost, deserves most of the credit for my sense of self I’ve acquired today. My music teachers in high school as well, Mr. Eachus, Mr. Freytag, and Mr. Bradley, helped me profoundly in honing in my artistic craft through key developmental years in my life. My two favorite professors from the University of Utah, too, Professor Nelson and Professor Jenson, helped me craft my theatrical identity. My long-time partner, James, has also been there for me in my lowest of lows, and I am incredibly thankful for his kindness and generosity. I’d also like to thank my sister and my friends Dallin and Larry for being there for me and for always providing a sturdy sense of humor and a dose of wisdom to me on my darkest days. Lastly, I’d like to thank my cat, Noodles, for being a special kind of support that only animals can be– cute, cuddly, and a furry shoulder to cry on!
