Meet Ianna Turner | Creative, Artist, Performer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ianna Turner and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ianna, why did you pursue a creative career?
I chose this career because performing (singing, dancing, etc) is where I feel most alive and most myself. It’s the one place I can pour my heart out. The first time I performed, I felt something powerful shift in the room, and I knew this was more than a hobby—it was my calling. My artistic expression helps me express what words can’t, and I use it to create real, heartfelt moments where others can feel seen and inspired.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is rooted in emotion, honesty, and vulnerability. I believe what sets me apart is my willingness to be fully seen through my work, raw, imperfect, but real. I pour my lived experiences, my joy, my pain, and my healing into every performance.
Getting to where I am today hasn’t been easy. There were moments I doubted myself, felt unseen, or questioned if I was enough but I kept creating. I learned to trust the process and realized that the real magic happens when I embrace all of who I am, even the messy parts. What helped me through the hard times was leaning on my community, giving myself grace, and remembering why I started in the first place.
My story is about exploring all the different forms of love, holding onto resilience, and much more as I navigate life. I want the world to know that my art is for anyone who’s ever felt like they had to hide pieces of themselves—because through my voice, I hope they find theirs too.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend came to visit Columbus, I’d start by taking them on a walk at a local park, somewhere peaceful to soak in the calm and therapeutic vibes. Then we’d head to East Market—it’s one of my favorite spots because there are so many food options and the whole place just feels aesthetically pleasing and alive. We’d definitely hit up the Columbus Museum of Art, and then spend the rest of the day vibing at a local festival—Columbus always has something going on. We’d be in our cute outfits, singing and dancing our hearts out to live music and eating good!
To me, Columbus has a lot of fun things to offer—they just take a little digging to find. But once you’re tapped in, there’s so much culture, energy, and good vibes waiting to be explored.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Big shoutout to my community, my family, and my friends. Their constant support, love, and belief in me have carried me through every high and low. I wouldn’t be where I am without them.
I also want to shout out myself, for continuing to show up, even when it’s hard. Learning to accept all parts of who I am has helped me grow not just as an artist, but as a human, and I’m proud of that.
