We had the good fortune of connecting with Jayden Price and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jayden, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Initially, when I first started my business it was because I didn’t want to work for someone else. I didn’t like the thought of being told what to do and when to do it by someone. It wasn’t because I just didn’t want to work, as a kid I was very observant and would watch how managers or bosses would treat their employees whenever I was in some type of business setting. I could visibly see the frustration and exhaustion on the employees faces when the boss told them to do something. When I was 15 I told my mom that I wasn’t going to be one of those people who had to work for someone else forever. Then 2 years later I started my business, GLbL LoVE, which eventually became, Price and Partners.

I started making T-shirt’s, screen printing on black Gildan blanks that had the words ‘GLbL LoVE’ in white ink on the front and the multicolored letters on the back that spelled out ‘Love’. It was cool for that time era and I was the only one at that time designing and making clothes so it was a hit initially.

I really used ‘GLbL LoVE’ as stepping stone into business. It wasn’t necessarily the designing and development of the T-shirt’s that excited me (even though I love designing) it was the backend work that I enjoyed. After my first release I knew that I wanted to for sure be in business. Price and Partners in now a company that withholds DBA’s and is utilized as a Creative Communications Company.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Well as of recent I’ve been working to get my business in order to start filming projects that I have been sitting on for a while now. I have took time to soak up as much knowledge as possible to prepare for these upcoming projects.
It’s definitely been a process because everything is more easier said then done. It really takes time to genuinely learn, understand and develop the skills to bring your visions to life. I’m still leaving and I won’t ever stop learning because I can always be better.
I think one of the biggest lessons that I’ve learned and still in the process of gauging is that every project won’t be perfect in my eyes. I will always think something can be better and I have to work to be better at just releasing projects that I think could be better. I have a problem of sitting on ideas and projects and I think it’s because I put them on a pedestal, when in reality it’s not that deep. By me putting projects on a pedestal I’ve taken the fun out of being creative and it’s something that I have to work through!
One thing I want whoever is reading this to know is, whatever you are doing in your life right is it’s not that deep. Take a step back and breathe and enjoy the present moment of being alive. We tend to take life so serious when we are supposed to be just living and enjoy the day.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m a person who doesn’t go out much, outside of going on nature walks. So in complete honesty I wouldn’t know the first places to go other than a trail.
The only places I really know of is the Short North and there are some cool places in German Village to check out. I like going to the Book Loft in German Village and maybe getting some coffee or food in that neighborhood.
My fun usually comes from being a creative space, a studio, or set, or just anywhere I can pick up a camera and shoot or direct. Sorry I couldn’t be much help in this matter, but if you’re thinking about visiting Columbus I say it’s definitely a place to see!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many people that play a huge role in my journey and they know who they are. But definitely my mom she’s been my biggest supporter since I told her that I wasn’t going to work a job forever and be my own boss. She’s always told me that I could do and have whatever I wanted and I’m so grateful for her speaking life into me. My pops too, he’s just down with whatever I do, and is always proud of my accomplishments. Whatever I tell him I’m doing it’s usually “Okay Jayden, that’s good”. He knows that I have his hustler mentality, so whatever I say I’m going to do he knows I’m going to do it. I have to give my best friends their flowers as well, Shaquan, Jamario and Xavier. They literally have supported literally every single idea that I have ever had. It could be the most outlandish idea and they support it. It’s rare to come across people who will be behind you no matter what it is that you do. Even the people that I recently met in the past 3-4 years, all the homies in Atlanta and New York always support and show love. Lastly my mentors Che and Will, they have been such a monumental tandem in my life. They are my two mentors who took me in under their wings and have put me on so much game. They’ve shown me how men are supposed to operate and what it means to be a successful man! I always say that they are angels in disguise because I was in desperate need of mentors right before I met them.
