We had the good fortune of connecting with Lindsey Holm and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lindsey, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
“View your life with kindsight. Stop beating yourself up about things from your past.Instead of slapping your forehead and asking: “What was I thinking?” Breathe and ask yourself “What was I learning?” – Karen Salmansohn

I find this quote by Karen Salmansohn to be particularly meaningful because it embodies the spirit of personal growth and self-compassion, which are essential principles in both my life and my business. As a woman navigating the complex and ever-changing world of owning a small business, I’ve come to understand that mistakes and missteps are a natural part of the journey.

Rather than dwelling on past errors and asking myself, ‘What was I thinking?’ this quote encourages me to take a more compassionate and constructive approach. It reminds me to embrace ‘kindsight’ – the perspective of viewing my life with kindness. This shift in perspective allows me to stop being overly critical of my past decisions and, instead, focus on the invaluable lessons learned from them.

In my business, this approach is invaluable. Whether I’m curating ephemera, designing stickers, or managing various aspects of Moonbeam Mercantile, I’ve encountered my fair share of challenges and uncertainties. However, by practicing ‘kindsight,’ I’ve been able to turn these challenges into opportunities for growth and improvement.

This quote serves as a daily reminder to be kinder to myself, embrace my journey with grace, and appreciate the valuable lessons that have shaped me into the entrepreneur I am today. It aligns perfectly with the ethos of my business, which is rooted in a love for vintage aesthetics, creative exploration, and an appreciation for life’s imperfections and the beauty that lies within them.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My work at Moonbeam Mercantile stands out in several distinctive ways:

1. Artisan Craftsmanship: I take immense pride in creating artisanal products that are meticulously crafted. Each item, whether it’s a vintage-inspired sticker or a unique ornament, reflects my unwavering commitment to quality and attention to detail. My stickers, for instance, are not your everyday run-of-the-mill products. They’re handcrafted and designed by me to ensure they are not only visually appealing but also of the highest quality.

2. Vintage Aesthetics: I draw inspiration from the charming, eclectic, and sometimes peculiar world of vintage aesthetics. My work is a fusion of classic and contemporary, breathing new life into timeless designs. Whether it’s the vintage ephemera I use in my products or the graphics I create, a touch of nostalgia and a dash of uniqueness define everything I offer.

3. Sustainability and Upcycling: I’m passionate about sustainability. I often source materials, like old books, from estate sales, thrift stores, and even library discards, transforming them into stunning, one-of-a-kind creations. By giving these materials a second life, I contribute to reducing waste and conserving valuable resources.

4. Monthly Sticker Club: A unique offering for vintage and art enthusiasts is the Monthly Sticker Club. This exclusive club delivers a handpicked vintage-inspired sticker to your doorstep every month. It’s a delightful way to bring a touch of nostalgia and art into your life while also enjoying the quality and creativity that define Moonbeam Mercantile.

5. Digital Friends Membership: I offer an exclusive Digital Friends membership that provides subscribers with a treasure trove of royalty-free graphics, vintage color palettes, printables, tutorials, Canva templates, and more. This membership is designed to inspire creativity and support fellow artists in their endeavors.

6. Personal Dedication: As the sole creator behind Moonbeam Mercantile, I pour my heart and soul into everything I make. I’m genuinely dedicated to my customers, crafting unique and heartfelt products that resonate with the creative souls who appreciate the beauty of the past.

These aspects collectively set Moonbeam Mercantile apart from others, creating a unique and welcoming space where quality, nostalgia, and sustainability meet to offer exceptional products and resources to an ever-growing community of art and vintage enthusiasts.

After that, we would head to downtown Cincinnati to visit the Ohio Book store on Main Street, another amazing multi-story used book shop full of treasures.

Evening: A leisurely dinner would take us to Tortilleria Garcia, where we’d savor the best Mexican food in Cincinnati.

Sunday: Thrifting Adventure

Morning: We’d dedicate the day to thrifting at St. Vincent dePaul, Valley Thrift and Goodwill. From vintage treasures to unique clothing finds, we’d hunt for one-of-a-kind gems.

Afternoon: A quick stop for a healthy lunch of smoothies and egg bites at Noursh @ be in Wyoming, OH. Then we would head to the Ohio Valley Antique Mall for a more curated but fun treasure-hunting experience.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my dear friend, Daunielle Rasmussen. Daunielle has been an unwavering source of inspiration and support on my entrepreneurial journey. As a fellow artist and creative entrepreneur, she understands the highs and lows of this path like no one else.

Daunielle is not only a close friend but also my go-to ‘mom’ friend – always there with a word of encouragement, a boost of motivation, and a shoulder to lean on when things get tough. She’s more than just a friend; she’s been my ‘hype girl’ from the very beginning.

Her invaluable support, unwavering belief in my vision, and endless enthusiasm have been instrumental in keeping me motivated and pushing through the challenges. Daunielle’s presence in my life is a testament to the power of a strong support system in pursuing one’s creative passions.

I am incredibly grateful for her friendship, and it’s only fitting to acknowledge her contribution as a significant driving force behind my journey and the success of Moonbeam Mercantile.
