Meet Macie & Madeline | Ohio Foodies

We had the good fortune of connecting with Macie & Madeline and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Macie & Madeline, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
The inspiration really came from a lifelong passion for food and the joy of discovering new places to eat. I’ve always loved exploring restaurants, and it’s something I’ve genuinely looked forward to for as long as I can remember. When I was younger, my family had a weekly tradition that we called “food fests,” where we would try different restaurants, sample a variety of dishes, and rate our meals. It was a fun and memorable way to bond, and it definitely sparked my interest in food from an early age.
At first, I’d write the occasional Yelp review or let the photos sit in my camera roll, but over time, I realized I wanted a space of my own to share those experiences more intentionally. That’s what led me to start Ohio Munchies. It became a creative outlet that allowed me to turn something I’ve always loved into something others could enjoy too.
What makes it even more special is that I run Ohio Munchies with my twin sister. Although we don’t live in the same area anymore, it’s become a way for us to stay close and continue sharing something we’re both passionate about. It’s our way of keeping those food adventures going, just in a new format that allows us to connect with a wider community.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My twin sister and I both have full-time careers in industries that have nothing to do with food or content creation. We actually work in the same field and in the same specialty. Working together has always come naturally to us, whether in our professional roles or when creating content.
What sets our page apart is our dedication to discovering unique spots and highlighting them through high-quality, carefully crafted content. We don’t just post for the sake of posting, and we want each piece to really highlight what makes a place worth visiting.
Seeing how much Ohio Munchies has grown has been incredibly rewarding, and we’re so excited for what’s ahead. We can’t wait to continue evolving and connecting with even more people who share our love for food.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Here is where I would take a friend if they were visiting Columbus for the weekend:
Saturday: German Village
– Grab brunch at Lindey’s, which runs from 11:00AM- 3:00 PM on the weekends. Lindey’s is a classy restaurant with a beautiful patio.
-Get a coffee at Stauf’s and then head over to The Book Loft. The Book Loft is a sprawling independent book store that has an impressive 32 different rooms to browse.
– If the visit is during the summer months, stop by the German Village Farmer’s market, held on Saturdays from 9:00AM- 1:00PM.
– Walk through German Village, known for its charming brick streets and historic homes. Stop by Schiller Park.
– Head to dinner at Cento, an elegant Italian restaurant. They feature handmade pasta and seasonal ingredients.
Sunday: Easton
– Get brunch at RH Rooftop Restaurant. This is an upscale restaurant located on the third floor of the Restoration Hardware store.
– Browse around Easton. Easton is an expansive outdoor/ indoor shopping center.
– Head over to Pins Mechanical Co. At Pins, you can play a variety of games (bowling, arcade games, pinball, etc.) while enjoying a drink.
– Grab an afternoon coffee at Crimson Coffee House, which is a cozy and modern coffee shop.
– Head to Mastro’s for dinner. Mastro’s is a sleek steakhouse with a great ambiance and live music.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’m incredibly grateful to my parents for always encouraging me to explore my interests and supporting me in whatever I set out to do. They instilled a love of food in me from a young age, and their support and enthusiasm means so much.
