We had the good fortune of connecting with Nicole Reagan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nicole, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
I regularly set both short-term and long-term goals. This helps me stay focused and motivated, allowing me to measure my progress and celebrate small victories along the way to the large ones. I’ve also learned to view challenges as opportunities for growth. Instead of shying away from difficult tasks, I tackle them head-on, knowing that each experience strengthens my skills and resilience. I also whole heartedly believe in Work-life balance as a crucial aspect of maintaining my overall well-being, allowing me to recharge and reset with strength and determination which ultimately leads to success.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from others in my career is that I started late. I returned to college in my 30’s as a single mom determined to finish my degree to ensure a better life for my son and I. Pursuing my degree in interior design in my 30s not only required resilience but also a deep commitment to my aspirations. Getting my son to daycare before my 7 am classes, picking him up right after my last to go home and tend to him, and then spend many Long Nights on my floor or hunched over a drafting table with very little sleep, and lots of coffee.

What I’m Most Proud Of
I’m incredibly proud of my ability to balance motherhood and education, ultimately graduating with my degree in interior design. The journey was not easy, but it was profoundly rewarding. I learned that with determination and the right support system, I could achieve my dreams despite starting later than many of my peers.

How I Got Here
Entering the world of interior design was a natural progression for me after graduation. I found joy in creating beautiful spaces and helping others bring their visions to life. I spent a few years in residential design and then one day working inside a
tile showroom at the time and opportunity arose to move into outside sales for that company. I accepted the role and quickly learned that I had found my calling. This allowed me the ability to work along side designers and architects to create beautiful spaces all over the world in such a broad and exciting scope. A couple of years into that role I was recruited via Linkedin to the company that I work for now. And here we are 6 years later.

Overcoming Challenges
The path was filled with obstacles. Balancing my studies, raising a child, and managing finances was daunting at times. There were many moments of doubt, stress and fatigue, but I overcame these challenges by focusing on my goals and surrounding myself with a supportive network of friends and mentors. I became involved in professional organizations such as ASID and IIDA and leaned on my peers for guidance.

Lessons Learned
Through this journey, I’ve learned the importance of adaptability and perseverance. I discovered that success isn’t always linear; it often requires pivoting and finding new opportunities. Each challenge taught me more about my capabilities and helped me grow both personally and professionally.

What I Want the World to Know
I want the world to know that it’s never too late to pursue your passions. About 9 months ago I also started my own business, focusing on sustainable styling and reselling, You can check it out on Instagram MyThriftedJacket. This little venture is not only a way for me to add to my life balance in being creative, but also provides more income for my family while also keeping clothes out of landfills and also helping others to find their personal style. My story is a testament to the power of determination and the importance of following your dreams, regardless of the obstacles. As I continue to grow in the fields of design and sales, I aim to inspire others—especially single parents and those who feel it’s too late to change their paths. My brand is built on authenticity, creativity, and the belief that every space, like every person, has the potential to shine.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d definitely start with a trip to the West Side Market or Hecks Cafe for Breakfast then head up to the lakeshore, and take in lunch aside the water, maybe Pier W or Summer House, The Cleveland Botanical Garden and the cultural gardens are always a beautiful place recharge. Or take in some art at the CMA. Id probably check to see if there was a show at Playhouse square or take in a Concert at Blossom Music Center. A stop by little Italy and Corbos bakery is a must too. If its football season Id take them to the muni lot for pregame people watching. Kayaking the River and searching for seaglass along the shore are also favorites of mine.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My Father, has taught me to be resilient and to never stop chasing my dreams.
