We had the good fortune of connecting with Paige Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Paige, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’ve always had a strong desire for creative freedom and the ability to build something that truly reflects my values and vision. I saw a gap in the market for something more authentic and personal, and I realized I could fill that with my own unique style and approach. It wasn’t just about being my own boss — it was about creating a space where I could push boundaries, connect more deeply with clients, and grow on my own terms. The decision came from a mix of passion, purpose, and the drive to take full ownership of my work and future.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My career has been a journey rooted in passion, resilience, and self-expression. What sets me apart is not just my dedication to the craft of tattooing, but the way I approach it—as a deeply personal and transformative experience for both myself and my clients. I don’t just create art on skin; I help people tell their stories, honor their memories, and express who they truly are. That level of connection and intention is what I’m most proud of.

Getting to where I am today wasn’t easy. The path was filled with uncertainty, long hours, and moments of doubt—but each challenge taught me something valuable. I had to learn to trust myself, take risks, and grow from failure. I built Medusa Ink from the ground up with the belief that art should be fearless and authentic, and I’ve stayed committed to that vision even when it wasn’t the easiest route.

I’m most excited about the future—expanding the brand, collaborating with other creatives, and continuing to build a space where people feel seen, heard, and inspired. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that your individuality is your power. You don’t need to fit into a mold to be successful—you just need to show up as yourself, consistently and unapologetically.

I want the world to know that Medusa Ink is more than a tattoo studio—it’s a reflection of grit, creativity, and connection. It’s proof that you can turn passion into purpose, and that storytelling through art is one of the most powerful ways we can leave our mark.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting for a weekend this would be our agenda-

Day 1:
We’d start the day with brunch at Blue Door Café, a local favorite known for its incredible pastries and seasonal dishes. From there, we’d spend the afternoon exploring vintage treasures and unique finds at The Bomb Shelter or The Corduroy Cat. We’d wrap up the evening with dinner at Social at the Stone House—one of my personal favorites for both the food and the atmosphere.

Day 2:
The day would begin with coffee from Walkie Talkie, a go-to for great drinks and a creative atmosphere. Then we’d head over to my studio, Medusa Ink, to check out the space, meet the team, and soak in the energy. Naturally, tattoos would be on the agenda. We’d finish the night in the Downtown Arts District, exploring local galleries and wrapping up with dinner at Good Fortune, known for its bold flavors and great vibe.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to express my deepest gratitude to my middle school art teacher, Kathy Pugh. Her unwavering belief in me from the very beginning helped me discover my creative potential and passion for the arts. She consistently encouraged me to grow, and I credit much of my foundation to her support.

I’m also incredibly thankful to my family for embracing my spontaneous nature and supporting me as I navigated a creative and unconventional path. Their acceptance has been essential to my journey.

Lastly, I want to sincerely thank the clients who began as strangers but became part of my community. Their trust, connection, and continued support have been instrumental in the growth of Medusa Ink. I truly wouldn’t be here without them.
