Hi The Grief Club, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
The Grief Club serves the world by creating a compassionate, accessible community for individuals experiencing loss. We’re committed to reducing the stigma surrounding grief, encouraging open conversations, and providing resources that empower people to process and honor their journey. Through support digital media presence, groups, workshops, and educational materials, we help people move through their grief in a way that’s authentic and healthy.
Our social impact extends beyond individual healing, as we foster a culture that understands and supports the grieving process. By partnering with mental health professionals, community organizations, and creating inclusive spaces for sharing, we aim to shift how society perceives and responds to grief, ultimately building more compassionate communities. The Grief Club is here not just to support individuals but to inspire collective empathy, resilience, and connection worldwide.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As the founder of The Grief Club, I am deeply proud of the community we’re building and the lives we’ve impacted. Our mission is rooted in the belief that healing is a lifelong journey, and we’ve come to understand that grief is not something that simply comes and goes; it’s a constant companion, one that requires ongoing adjustment and learning.
One of our biggest challenges has been learning to grieve while still showing up for others—and ourselves. But what we’ve discovered is that showing up is part of the grieving process. We show up with all the emotions and complexities that grief brings, whether they look beautiful, ugly, peaceful, or chaotic. It’s about accepting each phase and understanding that there is no “right” way to grieve; it’s an individual journey that deserves respect and space.
Through The Grief Club, we hope to show the world that grief is not something to be “fixed” or rushed; it’s something to be honored. We aim to create a space where people feel safe to navigate their own journey, with a community that understands and supports them every step of the way. Our story is one of resilience, compassion, and commitment to helping people show up for themselves, no matter where they are on their journey.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One frequent place we all visit often is Upper Cup in Olde Towne East and we host our sessions at The 4C which is an amazing venue for other people to visit and check out.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Absolutely—there are so many people and groups that deserve a heartfelt shoutout for helping us build The Grief Club into what it is today.
First and foremost, we want to recognize the incredible people we serve. Every time they show up for themselves, they’re also showing up for us, inspiring and fueling our mission in ways words can’t express.
A huge thank you to Cole, owner of Cole’s Plant—our first partner and host site. Cole believed in us from the beginning and gave us the space to kickstart this journey. We’re grateful for that initial partnership and the foundation it provided.
Special recognition also goes to Ernest Levert and the 4C for constantly welcoming us, hosting our events, and supporting our vision. Ernest’s influence as a community builder has left a lasting impact on our hearts. After a life-altering brain aneurysm, he continues to be our inspiration with his resilience and dedication to community, we’ve made him a pivotal part in The Grief Club’s story.
And finally, we dedicate our work to the memory of our beloved parents: Cortland’s mother, Shelbie’s father, and Atlas’s mother. Their legacies continue to guide us as we support others navigating loss.
Thank you to each person and every partner who’s been part of this journey with us. The Grief Club is truly a collective effort.
