We had the good fortune of connecting with Tisha Griffith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tisha, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
Consistency! Success does not always come immediately. Sometimes, it takes years for one to catch their big break! I have been a playwright since 2010. Over the years, I’ve have successes and loses but I refuse to give up. Writing, directing and producing is my passion. There is no alternative. Not only that, I enjoy helping new writers and producers in their journey by sharing what I have learned over there years.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
A good story can change the atmosphere and move the soul. When I started in 2010, I knew nothing about producing. All I had was a story that needed to be told. The year I wrote and produced my first stage play ” Playing by Life’s Rules”, I can truly say It was one of the hardest years of my life. That year, I learned how to write, cast, produce, negotiate contracts, put a band together and market a show. I found a team of people who supported me through it all, Casey Fisher, Mitchell Stanford and Jerome Johnson. I could not have done it without them. The hardest time proved to be the most rewarding time. My stage play was a success. When you can turn an idea into a show that people love, it’s an amazing experience. To hear the audience laugh and cry and cheer is what I love most about theater. Theater is about escaping your current reality and living in the moment with the characters on stage.

To date, I have written three original stage plays ( Playing by Life’s Rules, The Inconvenient Truth and Deepest Shades of Blue) A Feature Film (The Unbreakable Marriage ) , A Documentary Film ( Black Girl Magic, The Documentary), A Web-Series,(Around the Way Girls) along with several short films in the works( The Rapture, The Intervention, Turning Tables) I have toured my stage plays in Chicago, Atlanta, DC, Louisville, Dayton, and Columbus. I have cast based in Atlanta GA, Cincinnati OH and Los Angeles CA.

I created a writers room in Cincinnati with a team of writers and together ,we created the webseries Around the Way Girls. and filmed that project in Los Angeles. Currently, I working with a team of writers from various states (Texas, Chicago, Los Angeles and Las Vegas). We are brainstorming a suspense feature called “The Trip”.

The name of my production company is Throne of Grace Productions/Films. I create Christian based content. My purpose is to spread the gospel and lift of the name of Jesus through Theater, Film and Media.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Our itinerary would start off with Massages and Facials at Massage Odyssey Wellness, then we would head over to Cancun in Newport KY which is my favorite Mexican Restaurant. After that,we would head over to Above and Beyond Planning and Event Center owned by ShaRhonda Moore to catch an amazing Stage Play titled ” It’s Complicated written by Bertha Davis produced by Three Babies Productions.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to Shout Out Casey Fisher. who is also a director and stage manager. Casey is a self taught director who has an amazing eye for all things producing and directing. She has been my first assistant director since my very first stage play. She has amazing organizational leadership. The 1st AD is the heartbeat to a production. She keeps our shows running like a well oiled machine.
