Meet Tommara Anderson | Licensed Esthetician, Permanent Makeup Artist, Beauty Influencer, Content Creator and More

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tommara Anderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tommara, how do you define success?
Success to me is personal fulfillment. It’s not just about achieving a specific goal but about making meaningful progress toward the life you envision for yourself. I am success because I wake up late everyday and only have to answer to my clients but to my 74 year old grandma im not much of a success because i am not married with kids. For me, success means having the freedom to pursue my passions, build strong relationships with the beauty girlies, and contribute to my community while staying true to my values. I define success by the impact I have on others, the ability to grow through challenges, and the balance I maintain between my personal and professional life.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

Whether it’s lash extensions or body sculpting, we strive to create exceptional experiences tailored to our guests’ unique needs.
My journey to this point has been anything but easy. After spending five years in a corporate job that felt like a dead end, I reached a turning point at 30. I realized I couldn’t keep waiting for someone else to change my life.I had to do it myself. I was already in the beauty industry as a mua. I launched the lash strip business But i wanted more for myself so invested in a lash class, took a leap of faith, and built this business from the ground up. Every challenge I’ve faced, from building a clientele to navigating the ups and downs of entrepreneurship in my 30s, has taught me resilience and the value of persistence. I’ve learned that passion combined with a clear mission can overcome any obstacle.
The lessons I’ve learned along the way are deeply rooted in our brand’s values: acknowledgment, affirmation, ownership, community, and self-care. We greet every guest warmly, uplift them throughout their experience, take pride in their journey, and educate them on maintaining their beauty between appointments. These principles guide everything we do, ensuring that each client feels seen, valued, and cared for.
Through hard work, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to excellence, we’ve created a brand that reflects my passion for empowering others. What I want the world to know about MinksMonthly.com is that we are more than a beauty brand—we are a movement. We are dedicated to preserving your natural beauty, protecting your esthetic from external aggressors, and pampering you in a serene and inviting atmosphere. Our services are a testament to our belief that self-care is not a luxury but a necessity.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorie spot in the city is my bed . but If I had the chance to plan a week-long itinerary, it would reflect my simple, laid-back vibe while still sprinkling in some excitement and variety. I’m a homebody at heart, but I love exploring spots that bring a mix of fun and relaxation. Here’s what the week might look like:
We’d kick off with a chill evening at Alley Burger for karaoke night. It’s the perfect spot to unwind, laugh, and maybe show off some hidden singing talents!
What’s more fun than a night of skating? We’d lace up our skates and hit the rink, channeling our inner kids and enjoying good music and good vibes. Then right after For the ultimate comfort food, we’d stop by Bon Aire for their famous Lemon Pepper Wing Salad—a local gem that’s impossible to resist.
For a more upscale evening, I’d take them to RH Rooftop, The Top, or Ocean Club during happy hour. A glass of wine, delicious bites, and live music always set the perfect tone for a fancy night out.
A visit to Columbus wouldn’t be complete without stopping by JLuxe Beauty Bar at 1434 S. Hamilton Rd. on the East Side. Here, they could experience the magic for yourself. Whether it’s lashes, brows, skincare, or body sculpting, they’d get pampered and leave glowing.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I owe so much of my success to the incredible people and experiences that have shaped me along the way. First and foremost, shoutout to my parents, my mom Iris Washington, my late father Big “Al” Anderson, and their spouses, for loving me, encouraging me, and always telling me what they feel is right, even when I didn’t want to hear it. Their wisdom and support have been my foundation.
To my seven forever friends, my siblings: Aniyah, Steven, Micaiah, Sage, Joanah, Taylor, and Andy. You’ve each been a blessing in your own unique way. As the eldest, you all forced me into the role of a big sister, and it’s been the most humbling and rewarding experience. You’ve taught me patience, strength, and the beauty of unconditional love.
To my grandparents, Booker, Carolyn, Ona, and Darren thank you for being part of the village that spoiled and raised me. Your love, guidance, strength, and cooking have always been a source of inspiration in my life. To my honorary Grandparents Robert and Chana Taylor for covering me through out my life with spiritual guidance, prayer, love, and sound counsel.
My mentor, Jessica, deserves a special shoutout for being a constant source of wisdom and encouragement. I had been in the beauty industry as a makeup artist for 4 years before i met Jessica. I took her lash class and things changed for me quickly. Jessica encouraged me to go get my esthetic license. I was 30 and couldnt stomach the idea of being a student again. You’ve taught me how to make money, all while being pliable, forgiving, loving, and just the right kind of crazy. I wouldn’t be where I am today without your influence. Shoutout to the amazing ladies of JLuxe Beauty Bar 1434 S Hamilton Rd Columbus Ohio, you pushed me into leadership, even when I didn’t think I was ready, and I’m forever grateful for the growth that brought.
To my best friends, Donnice, Spencer, Iris, Mario and Leatha. Thank you for doing “hood rat stuff” with me and for me, and for always being there when I needed you most. Your love and loyalty mean the world to me.
Shout out to my partner during my journey for supporting emotionally me while i was in school . Thank you for really being a partner, when i lacked, you made sure you were more and vic versa . I needed your support and know that i wouldn’t have been where i am today if it wasn’t for you . It would have been alot harder and delayed .
These are the people that have helped me learn, grow and heal in every stage of my life.
