We had the good fortune of connecting with Troy Fowler Sr. and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Troy, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
I strongly believe that the only way to achieve our dreams is by pursuing them actively. This feeling comes from deep within my heart. I have come to understand that being authentic is one of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves, bringing us peace and grace.

When faced with challenges in the pursuit of our dreams, we have a choice to make. We can either continue living a life that isn’t true to ourselves, or we can work hard to achieve our goals. Although there will likely be obstacles along the way, we must stay committed to our path.

I remind myself often of the experiences I’ve had in the past and how they made me feel. This helps me stay motivated. I also imagine what my life would be like without pursuing what I love, which keeps me going.

To make progress towards my goals, I set small and attainable objectives for myself. When I reach these goals, I celebrate my accomplishments. Maintaining balance in my life, such as having routines, is also helpful. Spending time with my dog Cooper, going for long walks in the park, or riding my electric scooter along the riverfront are some of the things that bring me joy and keep me going. And, of course, teasing my wife is one of my personal favorites.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I’ve been in a difficult situation before, and I know how unpleasant it can be. But I want to share some good news – people don’t have to stay there. That’s where I come in. I help people overcome their worries, challenges, and doubts so that they can move forward in life.

It all started when I was helping a woman in a home improvement store aisle. She needed help figuring out her career path, and as I listened and asked her questions, I felt a calling to pursue this path. That’s how I became an Empowerment Tactician and started my company, Day to Day Living.

My goal is to help my clients achieve their personal and professional goals with energy and enthusiasm. I empower them to believe in themselves and their abilities and to face their challenges with confidence and strength.

Starting this business was not easy. It required faith, money, and patience, but the biggest challenge was getting out of my own way. I initially tried to work another job while building Day to Day Living, but I quickly realized that I needed to focus all of my energy on the business to make it successful. Although I have made mistakes along the way, I am learning from them and growing my business day by day. Hence the business namesake as I laugh to myself. Insert smiley face here ______.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

I am proud to say that I was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, and still live here. If you plan to visit Columbus, I recommend you check out some of its amazing attractions such as the Center of Science and Industry (COSI), Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, Easton Town Center, Ohio Stadium, German Village, Columbus Museum of Art, and the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium.

If I were to suggest a perfect itinerary, I’d start with the Short North, which is located near downtown. It’s a fantastic experience to ride electric scooters through the lovely streets and riverfront area. Once you work up a good appetite, I recommend you head to Bud Dairy Hall, located in the Italian Village section of the Short North. My favorite restaurant in the area is Modern Southern Table, owned by my friend, Sadaya “Daisy” Lewis, who is known for her exceptional fried chicken, and delicious sides of greens and fried okra. And of course, we can’t forget the amazing cornbread! After indulging in all that good food, you can explore some of the fantastic shops and bars in the vicinity. The adventure wouldn’t be complete without satisfying that sweet tooth. You can grab some ice cream cones at Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, located right there in the Short North, which will most definitely hit the spot. Yes, that’s a good ole time right there!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

I want to give a shoutout to my beautiful wife, Tasha Fowler! I am immensely grateful to her for everything. She has been a true blessing in my life. She listens to me, cares for me, and even puts up with me! I believe God loves her. There was a time in my life when I was going through a low phase, and that’s when Tasha came into my life and helped me grow into the man I am today. She challenged me to go back to college, something I had been putting off for years. With her support and encouragement, I finally did it.

I feel incredibly fortunate to have such a loving family in my life. Both of my parents have been there for me through thick and thin. Unfortunately, my father is no longer with us, but he remains my role model. As a strong Black man, he taught me valuable life lessons that I carry with me every day. Pop, I am your legacy, and I will always strive to make you proud.

To my mother, Dolores Fowler, thank you for raising me to be the man that I am today. I promise to work hard and be the son that you deserve.

And to my boys, Troy Fowler Jr and Logan Booker, I love you both so much!I want to give a special shoutout to my close friends Dietrich Simpson, Kenneth Avent, Jarrett Austin, Tony Evans, Arron Gregory, Alpha Griffin, Richard Blunt, Oyauma Garrison, Mike Fields, Damon Mosley, and Paige York. These amazing people have always been there for me, and I’m grateful for their support. I believe in the power of community and choose to walk through life with a village rather than isolate myself on an island.
