Never give up?

Never give up. It’s advice that is thrown around daily – but is it always right? We asked some folks we admire about their thoughts around how to know when to give up and when to keep trying
I’ve always gone into things with the mindset of “if I do this long enough and consistently then I will eventually figure out how to make it work”. Thats how I approach every new venture I go after. I tried making videos on social media for years and nobody seemed to want to watch them. I knew that it was something I enjoyed doing and was good at so if I just kept going with it eventually I would create something that would capture an audience. Now creating videos is my full time job and I love every minute of it. Giving up is never an option. Nobody has ever achieved anything without going through a period of doubt and wondering if they should quit. There are going to be times in life when you are going to want to stop working hard for what it is that you want to achieve. There are going to be times when a little voice in your head asks you, “Is this worth it? Can I do it?” All I ask from you is that you speak back to that voice and say, “yes it’s worth it; I can do it,” That’s what I have to do sometimes to keep myself going to follow my dreams. I believe that if you have a S.M.A.R.T. goal in your life, then you should always continue to follow it, even when life gets tough, or you’ll always wonder what could have been if you kept going. 2023 put that question front and center for Pigment International. As a small company with only two people committed full time it became a challenge when I was confronted by a health scare this year. Our conversations have always centered on what is the transition strategy for the organization and how do we involve others that are deeply committed to this work. Yet we aren’t at a place just yet for that to happen. Our thoughts varied widely from scaling back on the work, to shutting the operation down completely. But the one thing I could not shake was that there were more avenues to pursue; that the organization still has the potential for growth and improvement; new partners that could make us better; and potential for increased revenues.
