We asked some of the most interesting folks in the community to open up about how they think about taking chances and the role risk has played in their lives and careers. To me, risk-taking is an essential part of any personal growth and also being an entrepreneur, particularly in fields like personal development where you help others push beyond their comfort zones. Risk just seems scary. And the outcome of taking a risk is always unknown. Because of this, my art business has been nothing but a risk I took. In high school, I was told by my parents that this could not be a career. A hobbie, but not a career. So I stopped doing art and just picked it up about a year ago.
Over the last year, I have just tried to get people to acknowledge my art as art. Art is so personal and my biggest fear is no one will like it. But I realized my art isn’t meant for anyone but me and I’m choosing to share it! Read more>>
I think that choosing to farm is a risk within itself. Not only is it a career that is not the standard path, we are first generation farmers so we built this from scratch. Also having to deal with the weather and other challenges of Mother Nature (soil health, pests, pathogens, etc.), make each day its own adventure. We say it takes a certain type of personality to want to farm because you have to want to continue to challenge yourself, especially when it gets tough. But you learn a lot about yourself during those times, which is what I appreciate about it… it keeps you humble and shows you what you’re actually capable of. Read more>>
