We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Meiners and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jennifer, what do you attribute your success to?

Let’s extract the word success from this question, if we are being honest, I haven’t reached success yet. I am only two years in to developing my brand/business and I have set a very high bar for myself. The most important factor behind the day to day of my brand/business are my customers and clients. Without them, MPT would not exist. I worked very hard to develop a culture within MPT, I set the standard high and cross connect as many folks that step through my gym as I can. This provides everyone with a strong support system, along with accountability that is not solely coming from me as their coach/trainer. I have a strong group of leaders within MPT that carry the same high standard of work ethic which I demand from everyone that step through my doors. This is where results are made and expectations are exceeded. As the owner of MPT, I am very proud of each and every person that make MPT operational and continue to exceed expectations in their personal endeavors, as this elevates all of us to continue striving to live our best life.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

I consider myself a very creative person in my own form. Fitness is my field of expertise and it is constantly evolving. I was a multi-sport athlete, because I needed the variety, however the sport I pursued for my career was soccer. I chose this game because it is a creative game and I excel when I have the freedom to think creatively. I coached for many years now, and as a coach, I always took pride in preparing my session, classes and practices.
Regarding my business, as my own boss, I am free to create content, along with program design and this works best for the type of person I am. I love prepping my training sessions for the week. I am not a typical gym with lots of equipment and machines. I have a functional training space where I am free to design and create movements that are functional to everyday activities. I believe my creativity is how I maintain a huge retention rate with my clients. I have a majority of clients that have been training with me for 15+ years now and that speaks highly to the quality of service I provide for them.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

I am a Cincinnatian at heart, born and raised on the westside and I love my city. I graduated from Mercy High School and the University of Cincinnati. If I had a friend visit from out of town and they have never been to Cincinnati, I’d start with a walk through downtown and the Banks, pointing out our stadiums and all the cool new spots to eat and listen to music. Our entertainment district has evolved in a big way over the years. Our ZOO is awesome, especially this time of year. We have the top Festival of Light at our own Cincinnati Zoo. I am also drawn to all our smaller spots around town. We have some of the best hidden gems as far as restaurants and live music go.
I saved my favorite for last, FCC Men’s Soccer team. Our TQL Stadium and the atmosphere for the games is nothing short of incredible!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

As a competitive student-athlete from grade school on, I have been incredibly blessed with teachers, coaches, teammates and mentors throughout my life. The support system I’ve been blessed with, is compiled of a large circle of extraordinary and talented mentors that have played a significant role in my growth and development as a person and now as a business owner. The fact that I am self-driven and highly competitive in everything I touch has only further given me an edge in business and in life. A few significant names I would like to shout out and who hold a very special place in my heart start with my father who passed away in 2020, his “hard-love” mentality, instilled the work ethic and drive I have. I was always striving to impress him and make him proud of my accomplishments. A few family members I’d like to mention is John Sharbell, Angie and Steve Hater. Since loosing my father they have stepped in to fill that void in my heart and I know I will always have them in my life as family but also as business mentors.
Coach Thompson, Coach Ranz, and Coach Melissa Wegman were some of the coaches I had in my youth and high school years that made a significant impact on my development as a player and person.
Moving in to my college years and my Bearcat family. First, my teammates who challenged me every single day, on and off the field. My team of college coaches Meridy Glen, Mickey Marotti, Heather Mason, Carrie Nelson.
The transition from college to adult life was tough on me, I knew soccer and school day in and day out. When my soccer career was coming to a close, it was a tough transition. I continued my love of the game through coaching myself.
Another shout out is to my ROC family, Robert Cooper, the owner or ROC, one of my closest fiends and coach who I continue to train with to this day. Tiana and Parry Stover who are super talented business owners in their own fields and played a significant role in the start of my business.
In closing, I could go on for days shouting out people that I have been blessed with in my life so far.
Networking is crucial for growth and this is how I navigate through all my endeavors in life.
