We had the good fortune of connecting with Drake Johnson Ii and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Drake, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
The reason I wanted to pursue creativity is because it’s what brings me joy, freedom, and a way to express what I see/feel in life.

My parents also encouraged me to do whatever it is I enjoyed in life because that’s what matters at the end of the day, so I feel like they played a big part in me choosing to do just that.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I would let the people who see my skating/photography say what they think sets me apart, because I’m just doing things that I love and I’m thankful for people to enjoy my work at all.

Something I’m excited about is being able to travel and see the world and share experiences with my loved ones.

I don’t really think anything is necessarily easy but that’s what makes everything fun and worth it.

Any challenges I’ve had to overcome I just problem solve take advice and try push through whatever fear or doubts I may have because “the best things in life are always right on the other side of that fear” or un-sureness.

That’s probably my favorite lesson, along with “you have to be bad at something before you’ll be good at it”, so don’t let not knowing how to do something stop you from doing anything or you’ll never learn!

Can’t think of what I want anyone to know about myself or my story, but thank you to anyone that follows along.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I always have to take people to Exotic Latin Grill, it’s one of my favorite places in Columbus.

Roosters for chicken.

Eat mushrooms and go to some nature and get weird.

Stop by Embassy and see Barkow (We love you Barkow)

Drive in theater and flea market.

That’s all you get though.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My parents, Siblings, and Best friends.

Without them, this version of me wouldn’t be here.

Anyone who has ever supported me and there’s too many to name.

Nobody ever truly does anything successful by themselves, the support from others is one of the biggest parts of success and life in general.

So, Thank you everyone!

Big Shout out to my little brother, Jonathan Johnson. And best friend Nathan Horn for giving me my first camera.
