Meet Israel Woodmancy | Fighter Pilot & Business Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Israel Woodmancy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Israel, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I actually did not want to start my own business. At first, I just wanted a good pre-workout product. I thought most of the products on the market only had about half of what I was looking for, or they had way too much caffeine. That’s when I decided to make my own formulation, just for me. Of course, my friends were curious and wanted to try my concoction, and they loved it! After months of making pre-workout for my friends, I decided I could probably sell this to the masses.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a small start up business with dreams to expand. Right now we sell one supplement, a pre-workout powder called Skull Pilot, the company name is New Tactics Nutrition LLC. Skull Pilot is different in that it does not contain any proprietary blends, the label is completely transparent. I am also a bit of a minimalist, I only include ingredients that are absolutely essential and proven. This means consumers can be sure of what they are getting and the benefits are easy to research. I know most people will say starting a business is hard, but I disagree. Starting a business can be scary but it is fairly straight forward. I will say maintaining and growing a business is very difficult. The toughest part for me is marketing and getting my thoughts and ideas to the people. Social media is saturated with businesses vying for your attention. It is difficult to cut through the noise. I want people to know that we are a trustworthy business selling a great product and we do not want to spam you. I will accept a slower growth rate if it means I don’t annoy the costumer!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We like so many places in our little town of Perrysburg. For coffee, I would take them to Flying Joe and Maddie & Bella downtown. I am a huge fan of Basil in Levis and Kango sushi in Toledo. For drinks I like to go to the Village Idiot in Maumee, they have great pizza there too. We would need to check out Cedar Point for sure. I also like the Great Lakes Maritime museum, but I’m a bit of a boat nerd.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shoutout to our friends at the 180th Fighter Wing in Swanton OH and CrossFit Ft Meigs. They have been really supportive of the entire endeavor. I will need to add the the Fighter wing as an organization does not officially support the product, I’m speaking about the individuals that work there.
