Meet Milo Yugen | Music Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Milo Yugen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Milo, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
Sometimes, a calculated risk is necessary. Many times in my life and in my journey with music, I’ve made what I consider to be “leaps of faith.” These weren’t risks that I thought would be dangerous or destructive, instead they were moments where I felt the need to be brave and authentic. And even though my mind may have felt like opening up and being authentic with the world would only lead to humiliation or negativity directed toward me, those moments always led me to the most beautiful rewards in life. I guess what I’m getting at here is that it’s OK to take risks, it’s OK to be brave, and it’s OK to be authentic with the world.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I certainly don’t know what sets me apart. There are so many people and artists in the world that create masterpieces every second of every day. What I do know is that I put myself into every piece of music I make, I put my passion, love, emotions, and so much more into each song and performance, and I think that’s what’s resonating with people.
It has not been an easy journey, not in the slightest. BUT, I believe that’s what makes shows and releases feel deeply fulfilling and gratifying. I’ve had to overcome a lot of inner obstacles thus far. I’ve dedicated my music project, YILO, to the beauty of inner growth, self-love, and imagination, which has caused me to truly come alive in ways I forgot that I ever could.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
*Casa Cacao is a must stop for the best non traditional cafe experience. If you’re into Cacao, Kava, Mushroom elixirs, or expresso you cannot go wrong at Casa Cacao.
*Portia’s Cafe is a must visit if eating vegan is your thing! I’m not strictly on a vegan diet myself right now but the food at Portia’s cafe is so delicious it doesn’t matter.
*The Summit Music Hall for all your live music and Crunch Wrap needs! (Crunchwerks is built in to the Venue!)
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to Josh Goldfarb & Dakota Shafley of Sidestage Collective and Adam Granata of Alchemy Sessions! They’re not only amazing at what they do, they lead incredible music collectives here in Columbus. They’re amazing at cultivating a safe space for people to express and create underground and experimental art through their shows. Both Sidestage Collective and Alchemy Sessions have given me a lot of opportunities to grow in the last few years, and I learned so much from attending and performing at their shows.
Huge shoutout to The Summit Music Hall and the RE:CHARGE electronic series, which is a recurring show series at The Summit Music Hall.
And a MAJOR shoutout to my friends and family. Without their support, advice, and presence, I’m not sure where I’d be right now.
